Disclaimer
Hello, my name is Hannah Yeager and on ff.net my pen name is Isabel Night. I write Ronin Warriors / Yoroiden Samurai Troopers fan fiction, and I mostly focus on the Four Dark Warlords / Yon Masho.

I will try to write, at least once a month, an editorial on fan fiction writing and ff.net. Please note that these editorials are not endorsed by ff.net or the staff in this guild. These are purely my opinions in the 11+ years I've been writing fan fiction.

Please note that should a verbal fight break out my opinions, I will lock this thread. You don't have to like what I say or agree with it, but do not pick a fight in my thread.

With that out of the way, here is my fourth editorial...

...Get off your butt and do the goddamn research...

I write for a Japanese-based fandom. My favorite characters to write about were human during the Muromachi / Momoyama Periods of Japanese History. If those period names confuse you, do me a favor and get off your butt and go look up the terms at wikipedia.com

Seriously, if you want to know what the terms Bushido, Eta, and other Japanese historical tidbits come from, again, get off your butt and do the goddamn research!

Seriously. With Wikipedia at most people's fingertips, how are they so lazy that they can't even google Wikipedia when they come across a term they don't understand. scream

What's even more interesting is that when I post stories with historical refrences on ff.net, the reviewers and critiquers know what I'm talking about - or at least do enough basic research to understand the story's time and place.

I've also found that on Gaia, a good majority of people are just too damn lazy, period. It makes me scream!

Okay, so I've been having a shitty week where if I hear one more time what time the bus is coming, but you're too busy on your precious Facebook to actually log out and do a google search, makes me feel sad for humanity and society as a whole.

My point, it seems that some of the semi-smart people actually do hang out on ff.net - also, RR, you should totally read this article about CU. Just for shits and giggles.

That Encyclopedia Dramatica article no longer exists. That makes me sad.
