Is it their writing style that tickles your fancy or the fandom that they write for that wets your whistle? Whatever it is, it has made them your favorite writer and it would be both a wonderful and enlightening experience if you were to post about them! My sincerest hope is that from this thread, other fanfic writers can look to the authors mentioned as a reference or inspiration for their own writing.

Unsure about how to get started? Let me be an example for you and you can work from there.

My favorite Fanfiction.net author thus far is Night Kunoichi, who just so happens to be a member of this guild. She is my favorite writer because of her use of well-placed humor and wit in her writing. Her stories are both thoroughly engaging and concise. She isn’t one of those overly wordy authors who spends a paragraph describing the shirt a character is wearing (except for in her hilarious parody) but that doesn’t mean she leaves readers wanting for riveting imagery.

Night Kunoichi possesses an inherent knack for proper grammar and spelling which can be so very difficult to find nowadays and this instantly boosts her to the top of my list of preferred authors. I wish that I could get her engrossed in all of my favorite fandoms so that she can write stories for them, giving me more fics to obsess over. Compound her writing prowess with the fact that she is cordial to her reviewers and doesn’t take their criticism to mean that there is fault with the reviewer instead of with her writing, and the woman is practically heaven sent.

Everything that I wish to be as a writer, Night Kunoichi is. She has patience, which I believe to be a key component to being a good writer, and she is consistent in her writing. Unlike a lot of stories that I’ve found, hers don’t seem rushed in an effort to gain the most favorites or followers. She writes purely for the enjoyment of writing which is made obvious in the careful way with which she constructs her work.

And there we have it! Now that I’ve told you a bit about my favorite FFnet author, I’d love to hear about yours. You don’t have to seem like as much of a gushing fangirl as myself. Heck, maybe you’re even your own favorite author or you have more than one! If that’s the case, then tell me why. I’d love to hear it!

StarkBlack. I love her One Piece fanfiction, they are excellent in both a technical aspect and in their storytelling. She blends interesting plots and character development really well.

Lady Bronte for How to Train Your Dragon. I love the way she mixes in real viking traditions and beliefs and how she explore the characters.

I'm only listing these two because I've read and loved more then just one story and they tend to actually finish.

Loten is one of my favorite Harry Potter writers but Anubis Ankh is a close second. Both write beautifully crafted, novel-length stories that tend to be AU parallels to the books. I love the depth of their characters and the extent that they can bring them to life.

My favorite fanfic author (by far) is George deValier, a writer in the Hetalia fandom.
The way he develops his plots is stellar, everything is intricately thought-out, the characters are written perfectly, and he knows just how to captivate the readers.

I mainly stick in the Fragile Dreams fandom, and that is... rather slow... I haven't read a fan fiction for another fandom in... a really long time.

Right now I'd say xXSleepingXx is my favorite. I'd been reading their fan fiction "A Pirate's Life for Me" and it's got 28 chapters so far, all of decent length. They have a really interesting storyline going so far, incredibly good at cliffhangers (Darn you cliffhangers!! T.T) but there have been parts in that fan fiction where I'd have sworn my insides were tangled up and I could not read fast enough to learn how some of those situations resided. Which I think is part of being a good writer is to be able to get a good emotional response from people like that.

Normally I really don't like the Seto/Crow pairing. (I think the scene from the game was taken way out of hand...) but with this fan fiction I don't mind it at all.

I loved Lunalella for her stories Abyss and Ascent. Of course there's Anubis Ankh for her Pride of Time, and also Caeria for Pet Project. All of which are Harry Potter stories.

I have a lot of authors that I like for different reasons, and different fandoms, so I'll only say a few for now.

The first Author that really engrossed me into her stories was LePetitPapillion, and she mostly writes for Hetalia. She always does intricate A/U's that instill the best aspects of the show, into reality and even revolves it around real Historical events. Her writing is so poetic, and it always leaves me feeling so fulfilled when I finish one of her stories. My favorites of hers include Painting, Feild Poppies, No Love Too Great, and a Baccano one she did called Killer, Killer.

The second Author that captured my imagination is Vash's Girl, who mainly writes for Kingdom Hearts. It started with a story called Frog Prince, and from there the obsession started... all of the stories that I've read from her have been A/U's, that twist their usually real world based realities with a mirror of what life was supposed to be (which is the actual Kingdom Hearts verse). Most of her stories deal with memories, dreams, parallel realities, and just over all quintessential KH themes.

And third is my newest fan fiction obsession, KissMeDeadly crying . Not only have we become good friends through fan fiction, but she writes every thing I've ever wanted for Fullmetal Alchemist. Her stories can make me laugh so hard my sides hurt, smile so wide because it's so adorable, or cry my freaking eyes out some times all in one chapter or story. And it doesn't help that we ship Roy/Ed so hard that we've titled ourselves as Roy (me) and Ed (her) and are officially fan fiction married.

Mine is Enthriex, who writes Powerpuff and Pokémon fan fiction, mostly PPG. She also has a deviantART account under the same name. I should know; I'm one of her Watchers. biggrin She's creating a comic based off her stories. They're a good read; plenty of action, suspense, and good old-fashioned humor.
