Eliminating competitors from the chase is not the answer. I like handicapping the chase where those who did better during the season are rewarded for it once the chase starts. I don't think we need to have a set number of chase participants because we've never really had more than 5-6 people completing the full season. I think the chase format just needs little tweaks
You do have a point. I was very unhappy that Pearl was the only one on the outside looking in. I did like being able to directly compare us to the NASCAR drivers, since under the old system it was difficult to do.
Maybe instead of eliminating competitors, we could have their win bonuses get eliminated? Say the top 3 in points get their win bonuses, everyone on back would start at a flat 2000 points. We'd still have a little bit of nail-biting, but no one would get kicked to the curb with ten races to go. Plus, if you wanted to compare yourself to the NASCAR chasers, you'd just add the few points you would have gotten from the win bonus and you'd be apples to apples.
