It's better then having parents that don't give a s**t at all; really it is.
My parents didn't care what happened to me.
If I got in trouble with the cops they would just come get me and not say a thing about it.
If I failed a class, they didn't care at all.
If I ended up getting my a** kicked at school, guess what, they didn't even ask if I was okay, only said serves me right for whatever I did.
It came to the point where I started trying to be a good kid for myself so I didn't have to rely on their unlovingness.
Believe me, I would've loved my parents to nag about stupid s**t then not care.
