http://iwl.me/Text analyzing thing. Compares your word choice and writing style with that of famous authors. I've had Stephen King on an original short story, Dan Brown on one of my fanfics, and Chuck Palahniuk (whoever that is) on other fics.

Ah, this thing is making the rounds again. I see it often in the writer's forum. I think it just goes by word choice and nothing more because there is no real way for a computer program to pick up on actual tone and style and all I have to do is have one single mention of Alice in Wonderland for it to tell me I write like Lewis Carol.
But I'll play along anyway. One story got me Corry Doctorow. I have no idea who that is, so I can't say if I write like him.
Two different chapters of the same story got me Stephen King and SMeyer. Personally, I find this to be a grave insult to my writing in both cases. The story in question is in no way a cliche horror or a badly written abusive relationship romanticized with a poorly done love triangle.
The last story got me Douglas Adams, despite there being no humor, dry or otherwise in it, and Chuck Palahniuk. I guess it's not so bad to be compared to the guy who wrote Fight Club, but honestly I've never read or watched it so I can't really say for sure. (I have read Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy and it was okay.)
It's also given me J.K. Rowlings a couple of times before, but I forget for which story. Honestly, I doubt I write like any of these people.
Basically, different excerpts from any given chapter of just about anything I write could potentially get me every author in the system, depending on word choice. But I guess it's kind of fun every once in a while, just for shits and giggles.

For one of my longer fanfics, I got Dan Brown, but when I put in a lemon I'd written for a kinkmeme, it told me that I wrote like Neil Gaiman. O_O

Just tried it with my newest story.
Chapter one --> James Joyce (don't know who that is) Chapter two --> James Joyce (again.)
Looks like I got some googling to do... EDIT: From Wiki- Quote: James Augustine Aloysius Joyce (2 February 1882 – 13 January 1941) was an Irish novelist and poet, considered to be one of the most influential writers in the modernist avant-garde of the early 20th century. Joyce is best known for Ulysses (1922), a landmark work in which the episodes of Homer's Odyssey are paralleled in an array of contrasting literary styles, perhaps most prominently the stream of consciousness technique he perfected. Other major works are the short-story collection Dubliners (1914), and the novels A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916) and Finnegans Wake (1939). His complete oeuvre includes three books of poetry, a play, occasional journalism, and his published letters. I think I like that.
