This is the entrance to Ink Palace, where The Black King sits upon his thrown. It is an ever twisting maze constructed from plants. The shrubs used to be littered with red roses, but the flowers wilted and died when the Red Queen was slaughtered. Man eating plant took their place. Sunlight is rare here, though it can make an appearance from time to time. Most often dark feverish clouds are ever present, hanging low, making the air difficult to breath. Dangerous creatures shift between the walls of leaves; guarding The Black King for those who hold ill intentions against him. They can see into your heart though many have no eyes, they witness what you hold dear, and discover what makes you stricken with fear. The only way to survive here is to have special passage from The Black King himself, which takes the form of a golden token. If you have that you will not be harmed. I warn you though, please don't get lost, you may never be found again. But by all means, enjoy yourself. -Cheshire

HOLD THE PHONE HIT REPEAT YOU GOT ME FOLDING AT THE KNEES He was lost. How many times had he been warned not to get lost out here? How many ‘keys’ had he been given only to misplace or forget how to use? He wasn’t quite sure. Three at least; anymore than that would just be bad karma. But did that three include now or exclude it? If he'd he’d been lost three times, excluding now, he would have to get lost three more times. However, if the three was including now then this would be the third and he was fine. Then again, perhaps he'd been lost three times already and this was the fourth, so he would have to get lost another two times. That would make six and he would be safe. But what if he wasn’t?
With his left hand Aberdeen knocked on his own head. Was anyone in there that could help him remember the correct way? How many times had he passed that man eating flower? Too many, maybe not enough; they all looked the same. Someone should really mark them; by threes of course. Why, yes and that would make it seem as if there were more. When unsuspecting trespassers walked through this villainously confusing maze they would see a death flower marked ‘3’ and would think, ‘but where are the first two?’ Or perhaps they would ask themselves, ‘if this is the third one the first two could be hiding anywhere.’ Soon they would keep wandering, deeper and deeper into the cryptic and dark heart of the labyrinth and they would wonder how they had managed to pass so many death flowers without noticing in so little time and then they would confuse themselves and entertain the thought that maybe they were in here longer than they had originally thought. Time passed differently. They were stuck. Lost forever and ever to the world!
“Focus, fool,” the jabberwock told himself, gently rapping upon his skull again. What was he to say at times like this when he was lost and needed help? Who was he to call upon? Then again, perhaps he should say nothing. After all, in his time in this suit of flesh he noted that men were not fond of asking for help so perhaps it would be more human to simply wander along. He was bound to find his way eventually. He could only go around and around and around in circles so many times before he reached his destination…right?
Pouting, Twitch crossed his arms and began pacing. “Quiet, you. I’ve no time for your pessimism. Think positive. It only takes three days to become thoroughly dehydrated to the point of imminent death. Double that with no food and you’ll be dead within a week for sure, maybe less. After that, hm,” Abby placed a finger to his lip in thought, “If the body isn’t found it would be about 50 days for all of me to decompose, faster if the flowers get hungry. All that will be left is bones. So that means, if you’re out of here within two day’s you’ll be fine. Yes. Fine, fine fine~”
But how many days had passed already? The Rabbit should be doing his job much better; the Black King should confront him. It was very important for the body to be on a regular schedule, according to the books in the library anyway. That being said, no one wanted the King to fall ill, that would be quite horrible. Who would lead them? Abby was going to have to talk to the King about this. It was a very serious matter, even more so than him being lost.
Wait! He was lost. How could he forget about that? He would never talk to the King if he was stuck in this blasted network of confusion. Perhaps he should also speak to the King about having a special way for him to be admitted in to the castle so they could avoid all this in the future. Then again, Abby might just forget about that as well and he’d still be stuck. Oh bother, what was he to do? He was not good with making his own decisions. The King always helped him; sometimes the Twinkle Twins. He never had to decide anything on his own. He didn’t like this, not at all.
Abby felt something warm slip down his cheek and he brushed it away furiously and sat down. He could not keep walking. He did not know his way. He thought he did, he always thought he did, but he was wrong again. Carefully, so as not to injure himself with his nails, the orange haired male covered his face with his hands and cried for a bit. Crying was supposed to make humans feel better. Perhaps he would feel better soon enough to try again.

Tweedledum & Tweedledee Tweedledum and Tweedledee Agreed to go and battle! For Tweedledum and Tweedledee Needed a bloody rabble. He sighed with relief as the doll agreed to his request for help and ran a hand through his hair; catching his hat before it could fall. Lin-lin was a real life saver and one of the few that he could honestly say, he trusted with his and his brother's life without fail. She'd proven more than once to be a great asset to himself as well as others since he'd known her and there was little that slipped past her. "Thank you, I greatly appreciate your help, Miss. Lin-lin." Demio stated as he began to follow her through the castle at a casual pace, an amused smile forming on his face as she mentioned the plants that seemed to like her and her alone most days.
"I'll be sure to mention that to him ma'am. Which reminds me, I noticed that there are a few new plants growing when I go through the Maze; have you added new plants to the garden recently?" Tweedledee inquired curiously only to give his attention to a subordinant. As they passed through the large doors at the entrance of the castle, he gave the guard at that door a curt nod as the man saluted them as they left. Demio wouldn't ever be able to get used to that. Even after all these years, knowing that he and his brother had honestly earned their titles through the blood, sweat, and tears; it still felt weird to have that kind of respect.
With a sigh and a shake of his head he gave his attention back to the doll that walked beside him. "Anyways, as for your request for me to tell Twitch about his master's departure, I'll be sure to tell him that as well." He agreed with her easily as they finally reached the entrance to the maze. Absently, Demio wondered just how long the Jabberwocky was in there for. [OOC: n/a] Then flew down a monstrous King, As black as a tar-barrel! ᏞᎥη ♪ ᏞᎥη ◤━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◥ ➲abdLin-Lin smiled as Demio mentioned seeing a few new plants in the maze, asking if she was the one who planted them. "Yes, I thought that adding a few distracting plants would give the predators a bit more time to make their move." she said cheerfully. She was happy that her work didn't go unnoticed, though growing the clematis vines was more of an experiment than actual strategics. She wanted to know if anything more besides man eating plants and centuries old shrubs could grow in the maze. It had proven successful, and she had even added a few black calla lilies the the entrance and exits of the maze. It wasn't until she admired them that she saw the strategics in it. Who would think that in the middle of the black king's maze there would be flowers? No one, and if it made someone stop to stare, then the real plants got an extra meal. It was a good system that Lin-Lin prided herself on.
➲abdIt wasn't long before Lin-Lin saw the black Calla Lilies she had planted only a week ago next to a gap in the shrub's long wall. She smiled as she admired her work. The shrub wall was perfectly uniform in height the whole length, the yard in front of it all the same height, an inch and a half. The Calla Lilies were developing nicely, and all was right in the world- but wait, what was this? A weed dared to grow next to her shrubbery? Well, that would never do. In one swift movement Lin-Lin unsheathed her sword and cut the weed in half, then following through with the movement she plunked it's roots from the ground with her free hand. Lin-Lin sheathed her sword and scowled at the weed that sat in her hand. "What a pathetic piece of garbage! Did it really think that it'd be safe in my garden?" she thought with a frown, and tossed the weed into the garden. Out of one of the shrubs shot out a green head, and before the weed ever had the chance to touch the ground, it was gone, the head with it. A smile spread across Lin-Lin's face, it was nice to have helpers in the garden, even if it was the garden that was her helper.➲abdLin-Lin turned to face Demio when he spoke, the smile wiped from her face. She nodded, and a smaller version of her previous smile remained. "Thank you, I know how much he-" she stopped suddenly in mid sentence, and tilted her head to the side. "What's that noise? It's like crying, but it lacks the hopelessness I usually relish. Of course! It must be that beast trying to act human again." she thought, and nodded before straightening her head. "Yes, thats definitely his voice." she thought, and let out a small sigh. She never got to relish the screams and cries out for help anymore. No one was foolish enough to approach the maze without a token, and the confused Jabberwock just didn't posses the necessary hopelessness and anguish of the screams she enjoyed. His was more of a pathetic lonely thing, something that annoyed her more than anything. ➲abdLin-Lin looked back at Demio, "He's here, not too far away either, near the center of the maze." she said, and began to walk into her obsession. "If your quiet you should be able to hear him crying." she said without looking back at the vampire. She knew the maze like the back of her hand, and it wouldn't take long to find the little beast. Maybe twenty minutes? Fifteen if she moved at a good pace. ➲abdLin-Lin stopped when she saw the Jabberwock holding his face in his hands, crying loudly. Lin-Lin let out a sigh, and walked at a normal pace towards the Jabberwock. "Aberdeen, you can stop crying now." she said, then frowned. "Didn't I tell you not to come to the maze unless I was with you? You know you have a horrible sense of direction." she said scolding him. Lin-Lin then turned her head to face Demio, which made her earrings jingle again. She waited patiently for him to speak, trying to ignore the uneven patches of grass that littered the area where they all stood.

HOLD THE PHONE HIT REPEAT YOU GOT ME FOLDING AT THE KNEES He smelled them the moment they entered the maze. Rather, he smelled one of the twinkle twins. He wasn’t quite sure which one as they were often together and their smells had a nasty habit of intermingling. However, he heard two sets of footsteps and since only one of them had a scent he knew right away that the other one was the doll. It didn’t surprise him that the twinkle twin and the doll were sent in to look for him, this maze was up kept by Lin-Lin, after all, and the twinkle twin had probably decided to tag along. He was glad it was just one of the twins, though he hoped it was the nicer one. Demio was gentler than his counterpart and if Doomiel had been with him then the three of them would be hunting for Aberdeen and when they found him that would make four bodies and everything would be topsy-turvy!
Yes, this was much better, indeed. Three bodies were not bad at all. A smile tugged at his lips and he fought against it. He was supposed to be crying now, not laughing. Being lost was not a joyous occasion; not at all. That thought was reinforced even more when Lin-Lin stopped just a few feet away from him and practically demanded that he stop crying. She remarked on his sense of direction and he quickly dropped his hands from his face and stared up at her with bloodshot eyes.
He stood carefully; his lankly form dangling in the way that a puppet might hang from string until the puppeteer had them upright. He blinked a few times, inhaling the scents around him, and then he bowed, orange bangs falling into his face. “My sense of direction is quite magnificent, I must say. It is simply bad, bad, bad karma to not wander the maze three times before I make my way back to the castle. It is routine, my dear. Without routine our lives would be in shambles. Please forgive this fool for causing you trouble. I assure you it will happen again.”
With that said, Aberdeen straightened up and smiled. The red had somewhat drained from his lilac colored eyes and now that he’d been found he was feeling much better. Even more so because he had confirmed that this twin was the nice one. He would not be chastised further or made fun of and that was always a blessing. “Master Demio,” he curtsied. He was still unsure of which of those he should do more often, bow or curtsy, so he often went back and forth. No one had said anything yet although he did often receive strange stares.
“You have news to tell me? I doubt you would have traveled out here to find me if you did not. How does our king fare? Speaking of the king, I have a problem that he must be quickly notified of. It was…um…well I can’t seem to recall right now. It will come to me later, I am sure. It was of quite the serious nature. Tis a shame I’ve forgotten.”

Tweedledum & Tweedledee Tweedledum and Tweedledee Agreed to go and battle! For Tweedledum and Tweedledee Needed a bloody rabble. "I get the feeling that wasn't your primary goal with them, but I'm still happy to see that you've added something different into your garden." He said with a smile and a knowing glint within his gaze. And when he said that the garden belonged the living doll, he didn't mean it sarcastically or even condensendingly either. In his honest opinion, the one whom cared for this sometimes dreary garden was it's owner. As they continued their trek into the garden he noticed the smile that spoke of the guard's pride in all of her hard work. Which also meant the Tweedle saw the sudden irritation when Lin-lin saw the unwanted weed growth. Her blade flashed within the random fillets of light that was able to break through as the weapon took out the head of of the small dandelion that dared to seek life within the woman's pristine garden.
I... think... that was a bit excessive. He thought with an unsure smile as he watched her and her ever present garden helpers dispose of the offensive plant. It was times like these that he had to wonder about the doll's own sanity, but quickly dismissed it since the woman was probably the only one aside from Lady Neviah that had their wits about themselves. Actions like the one Lin-lin openly expressed in the presence of others was merely a quirk that proved her existence. Demio let out a silent sigh as he merely smiled at the strange being that was Lin-lin before they again continued on their way only to have her begin to speak then stopping mid-way. Luckily, she didn't have to actually say anything since the interruption hadn't gone unnoticed by him either. "Is that... crying?" He murmured as his own superior hearing caught the sound of just that and having his next question answered before it was even asked.
Nodding in agreement he followed along as the the sound of Abby's tears grew louder the closer they came. It took a bit longer than it would have if he'd used his control of the earth to get there, but he'd rather keep the keeper of this garden from attacking him for destroying her sanctuary. Dee looked at the dragon-turned-human that was the Jabberwocky and rubbed at his head as they came closer. "Lord Gladstone, you really must cease these random trips into the garden." Demio sighed with a slightly amused smile as he listened to the creature's ramblings and promise of doing this stunt again. Of course that was only put in the back burner when the mention of routine and the king was mentioned. "Speaking of routines and his majesty, both have been changed for the day." He explained as he lifted a brow at the man whom curtsied to him but didn't comment on it.
"King Nithis has gone on business with William so the neither will be present for the morning's meal." The twin said with a kind smile upon his face and his gloved hands going to narrow hips and his red gaze turning curious as he looked to the carrot-top whom rarely ventured outside the castle's territory without another's presence. "I, myself, am about to search out my brother's whereabouts on our king's order. Would you like to accompany myself to get him and go onto our mission? Or would you rather- if it is fine with the Lady- stay with Miss. Lin-Lin?" He looked between the two individules genuinely curious on their opinion of this matter. Either's answer would be appreciated whichever it goes so long as the Jabberwock was watched and kept out of trouble. Speaking of... I wonder where our captain is? Tweedledee pondered absently as he realized that the captain of the royal guard, Alexander, hadn't been seen today either.
Wherever he has gone, I hope he's not causing unnecessary grief. He mused with a inward sigh as he thought of the last time Alexander's womanizing ways had caused both Dee and Dum to "console" his last bed-partner. That had been a mess-and-a-half that neither his brother of him wished to be part of again. Of course it would happen again though. Such an irresponsible man he is . ᏞᎥη ♪ ᏞᎥη ◤━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◥ ➲abdLin-Lin smirked as Demio commented on her explanation of her recent experiments with flowers. "Perhaps, but the reasoning is irrelevant if the outcome is the same." she said before she paused to punish the impudent weed. "I suppose that Demio wouldn't be a lieutenant if he wasn't sharp, or even alive for that matter." she thought, her smirk fading into a blank expression. Demio and his brother Doomiel were two of the titles that had survived the switch between rulers. Not many titles had to be recycled, but the fact that any at all had to be recycled was a sign of how much bloodshed there was when the black king took over, and ever since. Though Nithis didn't kill on such ludacris whims as his mother, he was paranoid and didn't like to be unsure of his company. Since his rule anyone that resisted was killed, or worse. The fact that the twins were so close to the new king's hated cousin was more than enough proof of their competence, and Lin-Lin respected them for it. Not many could do the same task without being destroyed.➲abdLin-Lin scoffed when the Jabberwock said that he had a magnificent sense of direction, and that the reason he was lost was because it wasn't the third time he had taken a journey into her maze. "Still going on about the number three then." she thought, then scowled in distaste. "Such a silly idea. If you knew the way then why get lost twice? Not everything happens the same number of times." Lin-Lin didn't understand the Jabberwock's ideas, but instead of going on rants and telling the contained beast about how the world didn't work in threes, she simply ignored the quirk. If that was the way the beast chose to see the world, then that was up to him. What right did an old doll have to correct that?
➲abdLin-Lin snorted when the Jabberwock asked for her forgiveness, but also promised to do it again. "Well at least he understands human nature." She thought as the beast stood back up. A small smile replaced the scowl previously on her lips as Aberdeen addressed Demio, giving the lieutenant a polite curtsy. "That doesn't mean he knows etique yet though." she thought, finishing the one previously in her mind. It was no secret that the current ruler of Underland, Nithis the Black King, had tamed the wild beast Jabberwock and kept him in a human form. There were many whispered reasons explaining why, some said to prove his power, others to keep him from becoming a liability. Lin-Lin however didn't care how or why the newest king changed the beasts form and tried to teach him to be a human, what she did care about was that the beast in his new form loved to parade through her maze. Granted that the beast's new form dealt a lot less damage to her maze when he walked through it, she still didn't like seeing the grass wilted in some areas due to his routine. It meant that in some places where the beast didn't wonder through as often the grass was longer, and where the beast did wonder through was shorter, which meant that Lin-Lin had to constantly trim the less traveled path to match the more frequently used. If she didn't then an observant soul might be able to find the correct way! She would of failed in her duties, and might of caused the premature rise of a new ruler, and that would never do. A sudden shift in underland was horrible for the soil, and she just got to the point of being able to grow black Lilly flowers again. It was something that she missed from the previous ruler's reign, the flowers, and the people. When the bloody queen ruled there was almost a constant flow of people that traveled through her maze, but since her son had taken over she didn't get many visitors, and all the flowers had died.... ➲abdLin-Lin raised an eyebrow at the mention of something important that Aberdeen had forgotten. "An important message for the king? That's rare. I guess he has to do something if he travels through my maze so often though." Lin-Lin thought, then gave a light shrug at the thought. "Oh well, it's time for Demio to explain now." she thought, and turned her attention back to the vampiric lieutenant. For the most part what he said was the same as what he had told her before, but with leaving out a few irrelevant details, and adding in a choice of sorts. Lin-Lin rose her eyebrow again, but nodded as he asked her if it would be ok for Aberdeen to remain with her. "I'm fine with having Aberdeen for company, but It's up to him." she said plainly. It would be nice to have a chat with the Jabberwock again, perhaps he'd even be able to remember the message for the king. Though if the beast decided to venture out of the castle again with Demio, she wouldn't mind the solitude.➲abdTruthfully Lin-Lin was indifferent to the situation, the only thing that would of made her try and sway the beast's decision was the possibility that Demio wanted to be alone with his brother on the way back. The two were very close, and often times sought a private place to enjoy each other's company.

HOLD THE PHONE HIT REPEAT YOU GOT ME FOLDING AT THE KNEES Aberdeen practically beamed as Demio rubbed his head and tussled his orange locks so that they were even messier than before. He didn’t mind, though, he actually liked this particular twinkle twin. The other one, not so much; Abby figured it had to do with the fact that Demio was the warmer hearted twin. Well, perhaps that wasn’t true but he showed his warmth and kindness far more often than his twin did and for what reasons the jabberwocky didn’t know nor did he care. Things were as they were for a reason and it was best not to try and figure them out lest someone get angry with him.
The smile from Demio’s kind gesture, however, fell the moment Abby learned that the king was out. He felt something tighten inside his chest and touched his body as if that alone would make the aching stop. His master was away and he hadn’t even said anything to the poor jabberwocky. Not like Nithis had to answer to anyone, least of all Abby, and it wasn’t as if they hadn’t been apart before but this was somehow different. Most of the time when they were apart it was because Aberdeen was on some mission for his king, sniffing around and putting the ghouls and monsters in their place and making sure they weren’t running absolutely ramped or delivering messages. In times like that, when Abby was apart from his master, he didn’t really mind because he was doing something that Nithis had told him to so it was as if he carried Nithis with him and the jabberwocky knew that whenever he got back to the castle Nithis would be there.
However, in times like this, times when the king left his castle and left Abby with nothing to do, he felt a bit of sadness. It was even worse now because the king hadn’t even informed him personally as he would normally do and that greatly put a damper on the poor creature’s mood. Didn’t the king know by now that his pitiful dragon was lost if he didn’t have someone telling him what he should be doing with himself for a majority of his conscious hours?
Shrugging it off, Twitch straightened his posture only slightly and shuffled near Lin-Lin. As much as he would enjoy being out and about around Wonderland with Demio, he also preferred being nearer to his master. So, Abby reluctantly decided that he would stay with Lin-Lin in the castle and await his master’s return like a good pup. Besides, if Demio was retrieving his brother Abby most assuredly did not want to be around. Sure they would be a perfect set of three but it wouldn’t be a good set because Abby didn’t think Doomiel was very fond of him.
“Unless the King has given you a mission that absolutely requires my help, I would much rather stay here and await his return. Besides, I’m sure our little china doll will find some work that I am suitable for,” Twitch said, tapping Lin-Lin on the nose delicately. His words and tone betrayed his mood, and even the smile on his face was downright believable.
