Rules:(Sorry if these get lengthy, I like to elaborate on my naziness)
~No godmoding, please
~Teachers may favor a house, but unless you are a head of house, please don't overdo it, and even then. Remember, in the books, McGonagall was often seen taking large sums of points from Gryffindor.
~Try to be semi-literate at least. No chatspeak, try to sound like intellectual individuals, etc. Typos are understandable, mostly because if I said to avoid typos I would be a huge hypocrite. Just please try to check what you write. Also, a few internet providers offer spell check on everything(I use Google Chrome, and it spell-checks things for me.)
~PG 13. I can deal with romance, minor cursing(although please, keep this to a minimum) and, obviously, violence. In fact, I highly encourage violence and romance(okay, once again don't overdo it. There CAN be too much of this) but please, don't go too far with anything. how often does Harry kill Draco in the books? Exactly. You can be violent without being deadly.
~Going on the violence rant, please try to be careful when injuring other characters.(okay, that sounds really funky) I'm not going to disallow hurting other characters, but don't go around sending everyone to the hospital wing. And don't necessarily pick on the same person. Again, I understand rivalry, but even Draco goes after other people occasionally.
~No Mary-Sue's or Gary-Stu's. Even Hermione got annoying sometimes, being so perfect in the first book. She wasn't too bad though. For those who don't know, a Mary-Sue(female) or Gary-Stu(male) is a perfect character. In this setting, they would probably know every spell, be able to get everything right away and kill any monster. Basically, over powerful. Everyone has a flaw. And I don't mean a mole in a spot nobody ever sees. I mean, full on flaws. For example, you can have a smart girl, but she can have a problem paying attention in class(like me) and always gets in trouble for not focusing. Or a boy who might be really quick at learning new spells, but maybe he is socially awkward. Stuff like that. Try to mix it up a bit, since not every person is the same.
~Unless you are a teacher, do not make up spells. This is to avoid confusion with other members. If you are a teacher, and wish to make up a new spell, please try to keep it appropriate and sensible, and put as much detail into how it works and what it does as you can. For a list of spells, see: List of Spells-HP Wiki
~Please DO NOT post until I tell you. I will edit your profile post with something along the lines of "accepted". Until you see that, you are not allowed to post. It is possible for your profile not to be accepted, due to an error or unclear information. If this is the case, I will somehow tell you what is wrong, whether it be by private message, post editing, or post quoting.
~Do not argue with other people OOC. If someone says something you don't like, either take it to PMs, compromise, or suck it up. If I do see/get pulled into an argument, I am going to side with whichever is more closely following the rules. Unless someone is overreacting. Then I will tell them to suck it up and deal with it. Anywho...on with the rules
~Do not use another member's character. Do not give someone permission to use YOUR character. If you are going away for a period of time, let me know. When you do, tell me whether or not you want your character used while you are gone. If yes, you may give me a person or list of people you would prefer to puppet them. It is possible/likely I will tell you to ask said person/people, I just want to know beforehand so i can update pages and let the other members know its a temporary puppet.
~The only time I will ever use your character without permission is if you have been gone a long time without telling me you will be gone. If this happens, I will suspect an unavailability of internet access and use your character ONLY WHEN NEEDED.
~I may add more rules, so please keep an eye on this page. i will try to post every time I put up a new rule, but that all depends on how I feel that day.
Everybody gets 2 warnings, with a possibility of no more then 3 offenses.
-1st warning:
Private scolding via PMs. Basically a "don't do it again" lecture(I'm good at these. You don't want one.)
-2nd warning:
Public lecture. I will call you out in front of everybody. I know how to make it embarrassing/not fun, so don't go here. If it is a major offense, or the same offense twice in a short time period, this step will be skipped, goign right on to the consequence of 3 offenses.
-3rd Offense:
Banishment. No negotiation, no return. Simple.
If you see someone breaking the rules, do not confront them. Please pm me or a crew member. We will take necessary action. If you do confront a rule-breaker, it will be considered an offense for you as well.
