~Chapter One~
“Alex!” She shouted.
“Alex, I’m over here! Please, please save me!” She was shouting even louder now. I was running, running so quickly through the dark woods. Only the outline of trees were visible, only the outline of...hate. “Where are you?” I shouted into the hate. “Alex! Alex!” The screams that came from her lips terrified me. I couldn’t find her. There was too much hate to much despair….
My eyes flashed open, sweat rolled down my forehead. I sat up and rubbed my eyes sleepily. “God…what the hell was that about?” I slid out of the bed and put on my shoes. I barely glanced at the clock but it was hours before anybody would be up. But I had to call her anyway; she was usually up at this hour. I dialed her number and put the phone to my ear. It ringed. And ringed. And ringed again.
“Hey, this is Jamie; leave a message after the beep!” Her perky little voicemail echoed in my ears and the phone beeped. I was silent for a moment. “Jamie, call me, okay?” I said worriedly. The last time I’d talked to her was four days ago when we both were a little sober after the previous night’s party. I decided I’d go check on her; she was next door after all.
I wandered outside of my apartment and went a few houses down, walking quickly. I knocked on the door and waited for answer. Nobody was answered. I pulled her spare key from under the door mat and slid it into the key hole and walked in. Jamie wasn’t anywhere, not in her bedroom or the living room. I frowned. I looked down at a picture of Jamie and me sitting at a breakfast café. We each had two eggs and some fancy toast, a bent over and picked up the picture. It was Sunday. The night of the party had been Sunday and our little date too. I smiled at the picture.
Jamie was always scared of something. She never wanted to marry me, I had already asked her. I loved Jamie so much that it hurt sometimes.
I stood back up and set the picture back down where I’d found it. I walked back to my house thinking about Sunday.

“Hey, Alex!” Jamie grabbed onto my hand, she was still a little drunk I could tell. But, hell, I was too. “What?” I asked. She began to pull on my hand leading me upstairs. Jamie wore a cunning, devilish, sly grin on her face. I knew it all too well so I grinned. I followed her until she got to my room, then she let go of my hand and went into my room and shut the door. And locked it.
I beat on the door. “come on, Jamie, let me in!” She just laughed at me on the other side of the door.
