The engines of the large ship, just barely buzzing on the enlarged VR Deck, could be heard by the machines. It told them, in their own special way, that it was time to release the children into their new world; a world designed just for them.

... the last children.

A quiet electronic voice anouncess in the cold silence.
Code, number 105623317. Opening Stasis Vessels:
No. 2338
No. 2339
No. 7662
No. 9015
No. 9011
No. 9834
No. 2264
No. 0082
No. 2345
No. 2444

The vessels open with a slight hiss. No dust falls as they open, no dust was allowed in the room to begin with. The children rise from their sleep, none of them know where they are and none of them know what to do.

2338 looks around. He sees other children of his age, all seem as lost as he. Slowly he regains the ability of speach, enough to ask his fellow captors, "Where... are... we?"

Only six children. Four died in the move, and more are likely to come. Cryo-genic freezing is safe, but long trips are something else. No one could predict who it would happen to. All of the children are wearing the same clothes, a white button down tunic, and white cloth pants. Their hair is how their long lost parents left it when they got on the ship, but none of them know this.

Next to their beds, a machine clicks (mostly to get their attention, as computers have been made that are completely silent.) and reads off their information. 2338 looks at it and barely understands what it says. His name and age are the things that he absorbs. His name is Geofferey.

The first thing 2444 was aware of was a small voice in his head.

No, not a voice...it had no human quality, no inflection, no tone. It was more of a...command. A code. But he wasn't a computer! At least, he didn't think he was. He tried wiggling his toes. They were there.

The...thing...he had heard, though not words, had been easy to understand. It had said, "Open." Except, it didn't feel like it was directed towards him. He felt like he was eavesdropping on a conversation taking place partially inside of him. It was a very odd feeling, to say the least. Nevertheless, he decided to obey, and opened his eyes.

The first thing he saw was his name. At least, he assumed it was his name, because it was next to the number 2444 on the screen before him, and 2444 was the number printed on the rim of the...door? To a pod? When had he gone into a pod? And why was his name so weird? What kind of parents named their child Koarrin? Was he Russian or something? What was Russia? Who were his parents?

The gaps in his mind were quickly filled by multitudes of questions. This must be what amnesia feels like. he thought. But also, behind his blatant lack of past, there was a sort of...hum...no, more of a throb, like feeling the heartbeat of an animal who's stomach you were inside of. It was all around him.

He sat up a little and looked around. They were...outside, it seemed. But something in his brain told him that he was on a spaceship, which didn't make sense, because there was grass growing on the ground, and grass, to his knowledge, did not grow in space.

It was then that he noticed the other child...or was it a child? He looked like a robot, with his mirror eye and gray-veined skin. But, it was worth a try, he supposed.

"I...uh...think we're outside? Maybe? Or in space. I can't exactly tell."

2339 heard the chatter of other children as he opened his eyes. He saw blue skies, deep green grass, and rolling hills for as far as he could see. 2339 also saw pods like the one he was laying on, spaced out randomly from each other. Each pod had a child, some were in the process of stepping out, some were talking to each other.

He heard the boy next to his pod say "Where...are...we?". 2339 wanted to reply, but struggled with the answer himself. That one question opened up many more questions, and only made him feel more confused and lost.

His attention was suddenly drawn to a clicking noise coming from a small screen. On the screen, there were several lines of information and a small picture of a boy. He recognized the language as English, but he could only understand the large bold numbers, 2339. He stared at the picture for awhile, but nothing in his memory recognized it.

As he saw more children leave their pods, he decided to do the same. He leaned forward, and before he could get his arm to hold onto the side of the pod, he fell out.

THUD!

His body landed on the soft grass, head first. 2339 wasn't in any pain, but he was more in shock of how stiff and slow his body was. He looked up and noticed several children staring at him.

Geoff looked around. He heard the response from the boy a few rows down, and saw the boy right next to him fall out of his pod. Taking his lead he stepped out himself, trying as hard as he could to not repeat those mistakes. His muscles barely held him, and his bones ached at the new weight they were expected to hold.

He looked around. The words Where are we still hanging in his head, mostly because the response he got wasn't quite what he expected. "Where... I..." He wanted someone close to him. He wanted to be comfortable.

He wanted to run.

"No. 9015.." A voice called out her name, at least for now she thought it was her name. She felt helpless and for some reason she didn't like feeling helpless. It was almost as if she was backed into a corner, she tried opening her mouth but nothing came out. She heard a voice telling her to open her eyes. At first she didn't even move one of them, but reluctantly she opened them. When she saw some sort of screen in front of her and a name beside her number 9015. The name beside her number seem to be, Anora. Anora? Was that her real name or fake? She couldn't remember. She couldn't even see her parents faces or any of that sort.

She heard other kids outside, some asking where they were and then she heard a thud. Which made her jump which opened her pod door. Quickly she stepped out, almost stumbling out of it, before catching herself by grabbing a hold of some sort of wall near by. Finally, as if she hadn't taken a breathe in a long time, she opened her mouth and began to breathe heavily.

Finally, after a few minutes of breathing she felt as if she also got her voice back as well. She stood there for a few seconds and lifted her head to gaze upon the other kids, which right now from what she could see, were mostly boys.
"I...am....Anora?" Her speech were slow and soft. Her hair tied back into a pony tail but for some reason she felt as if her eyes were different, that they weren't even normal at all. "What..wrong...with...me?" Anora's voice suddenly turned into fear as she touched her eyes with her hands, as if that would make her understand.

Kmey opened his eyes slowly. Everything was... It hurt. White. Ish. He closed his eyes again. It didn't hurt. He tried again a few times. After several blinks his eyes adjusted to the light. He looked down. Hands. Legs. Feet. He made a face at his toes. They didn't look like they were supposed to be there. It didn't seem right.
But what was right? He looked up. Something hurts him again. He looked foward. Blobs of color came into view. They had hands and legs and feet just like him. They had toes. He guessed having toes was right.
He heard odd sounds. The color blobs were making sounds. He recognized them, but couldn't really give a name to anything they were making noise about. He decided to try it.
"Murrrraaaaaaaaaaaagggggghhhhhhh...." He paused. That didn't sound right. He felt a tingling sensation in his face. He closed his eyes again and wondered why he couldn't make sound right like the other color blobs.

Not wanting to stay on the ground too long, 2339 quickly picked himself up. He now had green grass stains on his white outfit. This bothered him a little, amongst the growing list of things that were weighing on his mind. When he turned to look at his pod, he noticed the small screen had followed him--it was attached to the pod with a short arm. Its movements almost made it seem concerned with his fall. The clicking and clacking only added to its inorganic life. 2339 reached out and touched the screen, it immediately withdrew to its original position. The pod closed, and in a fraction of a second, vanished into thin air.

This startled 2339, and made him feel that he did something horribly wrong. He looked around again, and saw more children step out. A few were almost talking to themselves, focused on their own predicament. The boy standing closest to him, looked intimidating, but at the same time as vulnerable and as lost as 2339. Wondering if anything, or anyone else was going to disappear on him, he approached the other boy.

"Hi, who are you?" He asked the boy next to him, half expecting another phantom.

Who was he? He didn't know, yet this other person was asking him straight out. He had read a title, or as good as he could. He hardly recognized it but thought it was better than nothing and said, "Geoff."

Saying it somewhat made it real, and under his breath he repeated it. "Geoff, Geoff..." He smiled and turned to the others. From what he could see, there was a pale boy, a twitching boy, a growling boy and a girl who seemed about his age. They all seemed pretty harmless, so he decided to walk around to all of them. Walking proved difficult though, and he kept losing his strength but managed to stay up.

It seemed to Koarrin that the other children were having some difficulty with walking, so he decided to stay sitting in his pod for a while. No point rushing...whatever it was he was doing. Waking up? Unfreezing? Freezing...that might explain why everyone was so stiff, and why they were in pods. But why would they be frozen, in pods, in the middle of a grassy field?

He saw 2339's pod disappear. Which was strange, because he could still feel it there. How, he didn't know, but something in the back of his mind told him that the pod still existed. He then felt it moving farther away - down, it was moving down - and then, it was gone.

He felt like introductions were being made, and didn't want to be left out. "I'm, uh, Koarrin. I think? That's what the screen said, anyway." He felt like an idiot for being so indecisive, but all the other children were in the same situation, right? No need to feel embarrassed.

Steel compressed and strained under the weight of the operation mechanics. The door jammed, refusing to open. Deep inside, lie the prisoner, awake and terrified. He wasn't keen of the place but he marked his territory anyway, releasing the pressure of his body. Hands shaking, he took a sample and adorned his clothes and hair with it. His teeth ached from the stentch in the air. The smell of those tasty people were outside, but he could not reach them just yet. He sat on his back and kicked at the door, it dented to a dome but did not break. Taking a step back, he smashed his face against the glass plate on the door. With his teeth, he chewed through the glass and any hair he did not need. He was free.

With a leap, he tore through the flesh of a young one making sounds. He stood above him, gnawing at her leg until the ship sounded it alarm as if under attack. Ripping the steel door from a different pod, he slashed through the wall and dived into the jungle of circutry.

AI BETTY

A pod opened. They shouldn't be opening. At least not that one. Readings were telling her that the one in the pod was dead, and the one that opened its own pod was the same. All readings pointed to the dead killing the dead.

It of course wasn't the strangest thing that had happened to her that day.

"Unauthorized home access. Destruction is neccesary. The subject Ilribi, deceased, must be killed."

He broke into the wiring of the ship, no one should know where that is, especially not the children. Mentally Betty changed the order from "Kill on Sight" to "Detain for testing."

2339 was standing by himself, staring over the horizon, when his attention was drawn back into the group. A young girl started to scream for help as a humanoid creature tackled her to the ground. 2339 ran for the girl, and visually examined the creature. It was a boy much like his age, wearing the same outfit, yet his demeanor was wildly savage. The attacking boy started to tear into the young girl's leg. She let out shrills of pain and agony, as she looked around desperately for help.

The sound of a siren echoed from the clear blue sky above, but 2339 was determined to remained focus on rescuing the girl. The siren had the effect of making the savage boy leap off the girl. He then clawed at some imaginary wall, disappearing into a dark hole.

2339 arrived and kneeled next to the girl. She grabbed his arms, and cried--she was in so much pain. The savage's powerful jaws turned the girl's leg into a repulsive mess of tissue. Her leg poured out blood, and several fragments of bone could be seen laying about. 2339 felt helpless, and terrified, as the girl continued to cry.

It wasn't long before she turned pale, and her cries slowly became moans. She held onto 2339 for as long as possible, but her fight was over. Her grasp became limp, and her eyes became lifeless. 2339 watched her body fade into nothingness, and the blood-stained grass returned to its previous lush green color.

Kmey heard noises, but didn't open his eyes. The noises the other color blobs were making still didn't make sense. he liked it with hsi eyes closed. The darkness seemed nice. No toes or bright lights or color blobs to hurt his head.
He heard a big noise. He opened his eyes for a second to see what it was. One color blob had red coming out of her and all the other color blobs were looking at her. Maybe the red was important?
He liked the color red. It seemed bright and happy. But not bright like the bright light that hurt his head. Bright like the feeling of when his face was tingly. He sat down and closed his eyes again. The other color blobs could figure out their own toes without his help. He just needed to figure out his. He opened his eyes again and stared at them defiantly. No toes. Toes should be gone. Bad toes. They look funny.
