I loved the FMA manga series, and I recently started watching the anime on Youtube. I noticed that they were very different in many ways. So I was wondering:

If you have both read the manga and seen the anime, which do you like better and why?

I think that I prefer the manga because the events makes more sense and are better explained. (If I elaborated too much on this, there would be a high risk of spoilers.)

So what is your opinion, my fellow FMA fans?

Yes, I am talking about the first anime, as I have only seen 2 episodes of brotherhood.

I have all of the first anime, its completely off track, but its still good, I keep on crying when Ed dies... D: But brotherhood is even better in my opinion, it follows the manga and i love the storyline of the manga, that's how i became obsessed with FMA!

I watched the first series and fell in love. The anime was very well done and I loved the style. Even the musical score interested me. It all flowed so well.

Then I got into the manga. It was so much better to me. I love the style, I love the pace, and that's when I began to truely become obsessed. Plus, all of the plot twists and how well planned it was impressed me. And there are so many more characters. I feel the way Ed was developed was more interesting as well. But for the sake of spoilers, I won't explain this in detail. ;D

Then came the second anime. I would have watched it, but the animation bugged me. Don't know why, I can't pin it. But I do know, based on what I saw, that I prefer the manga.

The original anime just never appealed to me. I tried watching it when it first aired on adult swim, but just couldn't keep it up. Then I tried to read the manga and didn't get past chapter 10. Pick it up again a few years later, around the time Brotherhood started, and I couldn't stop reading. But I still can't get into the old anime :/

With all due respect to the anime, I'll always love the manga best of all. The manga is what got me into FMA, and it's easier to understand. I've only seen 14 episodes of the first anime and I started enjoying it but now I'm bored with it already. I already defeated Dual Sympathy game for DS, and it gives me a recap of the whole anime. It's so hard to accept the changes from the manga.

Which is why I prefer Brotherhood over the first anime.

But the manga, IMO, will always be the best because it's what REALLY happened, and it's not boring and confusing like the anime, and it's not rushed in the beginning like Brotherhood.

But I will finish the old FMA anime. Just to see what's the hype about it. To be honest, I already saw the last episode and Conqueror of Shamballa.
