Questions I want to know:
1) What type of records.
2) What are the time duration of the records? 20 mins, 30 mins, etc.
3)What is the quality of vinyl records compared to CD-R/CD-RW?

I have several hundred vinyls O.O I collect them :3

I had almost 2,000 vinyl records, but I lost almost half of them :S Working to rebuild the collection. Pipes burst in the apartment above mine a few years ago and ruined a lot of stuff.

But pretty much most of it isn't metal of any kind... Almost all of it is classic rock. I inherited them from my folks and my aunt, some I bought. I have whole discographies of all sorts of bands. All are LPs and in pretty much perfect shape. (Other than being a bit worn from use razz ) I love the quality of vinyl, It's raw and fresh ... Gorgeous stuff. I want to record them digitally to have them backed up in case anything more happens :S

"2,000 vinyl records" surprised . Arghh, its is a waste to have half of your collection to disappearing through an unpleasant accident. And I hope you could regain those vinyl back .

I don't know if I would cry or scream if all my music had been destroyed like that. Sorry to hear that. Have you been able to replace any that you lost?

Yeah ... I made a gonk face when I got home from work.

I tried drying them all out... but a lot of them had been soaked all day crying

I've been able to to get quite a few back thankfully. I was crushed to have lost my Bowie discography. Everyone made fun of me for it.. But I wanted every Bowie album ever ...And I managed to get even some imports from the U.K. But alas... crying

I'm working on it though! I frequent record shops and check online too. I'm hoping to get the gear to back up the vinyls digitally so I at least have that.

Absolutely NOTHING wrong with David Bowie, lol. I'm not a huge fan, but the labyrinth soundtrack is one of my all time favorites in music history...

I do love Bowie a lot. I grew up with his music. And I love an artist who can do what he wants, when he wants... And he created some whacky and amazing pieces.

Some of the Mayhem fans can appreciate this...

A friend of mine called me up yesterday and told me he had some random vinyls I might like. So I went to his place and checked them out.

He had a stack of ones he was keeping... And he was all excited. The b*****d has "Pure ******** Armageddon" eek It's a picture disc... One side is "********" the other side is "Off" heart It's in PERFECT condition. There are only about 1000 in print in the bloody world. We played it and it sounds... crying Amazing. I told him to stick it in a glass case!!!

1) I have quite a few punk and noise records from my early youth and a few metal ones from bands like Death, Cynic, Atheist, Mastodon, and a compilation disc with Enslaved, Cadaver Corpse, Lubricant, and Necromance.

2) Mostly 12 inch 331⁄3 rpm and a few 7 inch 45 rpm, no 78's sadly none of them old enough to be...extended play and long play.

3) I like to think that vinyls are better due to the fact of single compression giving it true sound unlike all the filters that they use on cds to get undistorted sound. It's just preference in the end I think.

I own none. I would only want to own those that are of my idol, Frank Zappa and any of his genius projects.

I favor cassette tapes.. true elitist s**t I guess.
