I'm surprised no one else has posted this, but Akira Yamaoka left Konami sometime at the end of last year. At the time it was a rumor, and I still would like to only think it was, but Konami has not said it wasn't a rumor, so I can only assume at this point that it is true.
If this means he wont be doing the music for Silent Hill anymore, what can that mean for future games? Who would take his place? WHYYY? I will sorely miss his haunting music. Now, discuss this turn of events, and let us remember our favorites of his work. Out of the Silent Hill series I think the music from SH1 is the most memorable.

What...No why is he leaving Konami Silent Hill will not be complete without his haunting and beautiful music!! cry this is so devestating. crying having team silent leave was bad enough but now he is leaving sad he is the sound and essense of the atmosphere of silent hill what will become of Silent Hill?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are we gonna live without his haunting melodies? Now, we'll be forced to have Danny Elfman for our BGM and that would just make Silent Hill a joke

*fishes byakuya out of the lake* Nooo, better off finding all of the stuff for the ritual, and make a new, better Akira.
Yes, he is gone. But does that mean he wont do the music? He doesn't necessarily need to work for Konami to do the music, does he?
But it does have quite a negative affect for future games, considering he was helping a lot with more than just the music for the games.

He said in a recent interveiw that he would do any music for any new Silent Hill game if asked to. He just wouldn't be apart of anything non-silent hill related. neutral

I won't lie, Silent Hill would lose a lot of its feel without Akira. When I read this article, I was just like OH NO!!!! Thank god for people who have the right set of mind to not ruin a good thing by sticking with it though!
What would I ever do without that music??? crying crying

I heard Mary Elizabeth McGlynn left too and is collaborating on other games with him, so the people making the next Silent Hill game are supposedly getting the girl who did the voice of Claudia and Angela to do the singing on the next soundtrack. I wish I could find the article though....

I have seen the first person shooter arcade game, but the thing is... They will never stop making silent hill games the way we all enjoy them. Look at Silent Hill 8 Downpour for example. It, at least to me, looks like it may tap into some of the original atmosphere and environment we loved.
