The world of Egrion is a place of both powerful magic and fearsome technology, divided into two parties who vie for power and balance. The nations that utilize the unique power of magic are united in a cooperative known as the “Dweomer Alliance”, and are comprised of the humans of Canteth, the beautiful and graceful Elves, the fierce and free Zuna, the Methuse Dracon who remain loyal to their magical heritage, the tribes of the matriarchal Ogrish, and the occasional but rare magic using Saukau. Standing against the Dweomer Alliance is the industrial militaristic empire simply known as the Seeil Collective, whose use of technology and anti-magic sentiment makes them inflammatory opponents to the Alliance. Consisting of the Protian Dracon who abandoned their siblings the Methuse in order to find a better life for themselves, the humans who form the heart of the Seeil Collective, and those Saukau who can't tolerate the magic use of the Alliance. Growing tension between the two nations has caused minor skirmishes on the borders between nations, and the Seeil Collective has been building defenses as a result of these tensions. The Alliance, in order to better train their young mages, the people of the Alliance send their children, starting at the age of 14, to Alteron Academy, where they undergo a 6 year program where they learn magic and socialization skills, to build alliances with other nations, and to build a sense of unity within the Alliance.

Races of Egrion Human: Easily the most numerous race in the world, they are also the race most likely to emerge from a variety of backgrounds. They are divided into two separate factions, the magic supporting Canteth and the militaristic industrial Seeil, who have a strong opposition for the magic-using nations. Appearance: Since humans are so numerous, any number of combinations can exist; light skinned or dark, with hair any color, since magic energy can create a number of various colors. Elf: Beautiful and mystically gifted, their involvement with the other races was limited, but due to the encroachment of the others on their lands, they were forced into alliance with the Canteth. They are formed into two different groups, the pale northern elves of Klatisilin called the Klatis, and the tan-skinned southern elves of Litusikan called the Litus. Appearance: The pale Klatis elves have pale skin in various shades, while Litus have tan skin, and both races have hair in various colors and shades due to magical exposure. Zuna: Though all members of the race have the ability to shift into animal forms, the gift of magic only comes to a select portion of the Zuna people, something the proud warrior race from Azuna makes sure to bank on when comparing themselves to other races, and magic hopefuls are expected to perform well in order to take their place in society upon their graduation. Appearance: Human-like, save for animal ears and a tail. Some have body stripes, but most only have hair on their heads and regular body hair, save for in their animal forms, which are larger than standard animals. Dracon: Once a race steeped in magical practices, a tremendous civil war broke the once unified race in two, the Methuse of Thusea who still remain loyal to their magical heritage, and the Protians of Protesian who shunned their magic and allied with the Seeil, replacing their once prominent magics with technology and discarded tradition for progress. Appearance: Looking similar to elves, the Dracon are set apart from them by the horns and tails they have. Hair, skin, and eye color are as varied as humans. Ogrish: Descended from the giants who once roamed the world, the Ogrish of Ralga are tall, strongly built, and have always felt a strong connection to the mystical energies of the world. Matriarchal and proud, they wned their best to pursue magic education. Appearance: Green or gray-green skinned, the Ogrish are tall and athletically built. Their hair comes in shades of red and brown, or else it is black. Sauku: Occasionally mistaken for an elf or a Dracon, this reclusive race from Pollseau has found, after the catastrophe so long ago that made them what they are today, a strange love/hate with both magic and technology. They shun magic and embrace technology, but the catastrophe left some members of the race with blue skin and potent magic capability, a true curse they try to make the best of. Appearance: For those not transformed by the Curse, then the Sauku appear as a cross between elves and Dracon, but for those transformed by the Curse, their skin has turned blue and their hair has taken on various colored hues, few of which are natural colors, and they may have lost the race's normal horns, wings, and tail.

Rules and Setup
This is a modern fantasy, “magical school” anime-style RP set in a world where children with magical potential are sent to build their skill and ability with the mystic arts. However, with existing conflict within the magic-using nations and further tension between the Dweomer Alliance and the industrial technology-embraced Seeil Council, will the students find peace away from home at the school, or will conflict follow and cause them strife?
Now for the rules:
1. No Godmodding. I have to be sure people understand that it has no place with me.
2. Keep OOC chat out of the RP as much as possible, and if you have to say something OOC please mark it by using "[brackets]". Example: And Kigu thought that it wasn't fair. [got to go sleep. bye].
3. As a rule of procedure, please be polite and civil with the other players. I don't want to break up a fight between players, and if I have to I may kick both parties out of the RP for good.
4. We will start once I have players to start, but I wish to have a full cast (4-6 players) before I start doing deep plot stuff.
5. In order to be accepted into this RP, I require that anyone interested submit a character profile (profile template provided below), picture for character (just link it, please) OR a detailed description, and a small paragraph in which you show me an example of your RPing skills.
6. If you are selected for the RP, please keep two little things in mind.
a. This is an online, on-going RP, so please keep up with it.
b. I expect a minimum of three sentences per post. In this hectic world, we often shortcut ourselves when we chat, however, this is not simply chat, so no chatspeak and please use proper punctuation (mistakes are okay, but not a whole lot); this is an interactive story, so let's get descriptions out there; it makes it more fun that way.
7. This is intended to be fun, and I have no problems with romance, so romance lovers rejoice. Also, I have no problems with yaoi, yuri, or heterosexual romances. But be smart about it; I don't want a mod or admin shutting me down because people couldn't keep it PG-13 or less.

Phoenix HouseFocus: Mars Element: Fire/Air Colors: Gold and Red Students in the Phoenix House are driven, enthusiastic, and progressive in outlook as well as courageous and competitive. These driven individuals are capable magic candidates and are very self-sufficient and commanding, but have been known to be selfish and overly competitive. 2. Tiger HouseFocus: Venus Element: Earth/Water Colors: Orange & Black Students of the Tiger House are hard-working and cautious, logical, and have a strong sense of duty. It is in this dedication that the students of the Tiger find their strength in magic. They're loyalty is without question, and once they're set on something they will not budge or stray from their course, a double-edged sword.
3. Suzaku HouseFocus: Uranus Element: Air/Water Colors: Gold & White Students in the Suzaku House are intelligent and inventive, having both strong intellects and powerful minds for the disciplines of magic. Though intelligent, Suzaku students find themselves occasionally setting aside things in life in exchange for knowledge, and can sometimes be easily discouraged.

Lizard HouseFocus: Pluto Element: Water/Earth Colors: Blue & Gray Students of Lizard House are some of the most promising magic candidates at the academy, either by raw power or by hidden talent and latent knowledge. However, it is in this unique trait that the students of Lizard find themselves disliked by others, and so they make themselves isolated and reclusive or distant towards outsiders. 5. Dragon HouseFocus: Jupiter Element: Air/Fire Colors: Green & Red Students of Dragon House are great team-players and highly generous, their passion for everything they do helping them in their magic studies, not the most skilled or learned, but having a strong will nonetheless. He's easliy frightened, often shaking nervously, and blushes and cries frequently. Having been told all his life that he's lazy and a failure, Mishkin thinks little of himself, and puts down what little abilities he does have until he seems good at absolutely nothing. Still, he's very caring and gentle, liking to help people, and has a strong empathy with those he knows. He really wants a friend, but is too shy, and often finds himself alone. But it doesn't seem like Mishkin will ever amount to much, and the thought of a future of failure depresses and shames Mishkin. Sexual Preference: not sure. He's never gotten to know anyone enough to find out. Hobbies: daydreaming, nature, taking longs walks, stargazing, puzzles, plants. History: Ever since he was little, it was expected of Mishkin that one day he would become a mage. Born into a human family with a long history of producing powerful magicians, his mother and father naturally believed that their four sons would come to wield magic, and trained them as such from birth. After all, a non-mage hadn't been born into the family in centuries, and both Mishkin's parents had graduated from at the top of their class. And, for Mishkin's three older brothers, the family legacy of magic came easily to them. But Mishkin was a disappointment. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't master the fire magic his brothers handled with ease, and often anything he tried failed miserably. As such, he was bullied by his brothers and constantly called a loser and worthless son by his parents, until he almost came to accept these insults. Still, he kept trying, but with little success. It's only been in the last year that he's reached a level where he can be sent off to the Alteron Acadamy, if just barely, but Mishkin's family has little hope for him. It looks like he's just going to keep being a failure.

[Opening post]
Every year during the last dwindling days of spring the letters arrive. It matters not the address or lack thereof, nor is the absence of mail delivery to the area a hindrance to the letter's arrival. For you see, when it is known that a child born on Egrion is found to have the gift of magic, those around them take notice, as do those who would wish to aid them with their gift.
And so, when a child first manifests their powers, most receive guidance from a mentor who will teach them the basic tenets of magic, eagerly awaiting the time between the ages of 14-16 when the child receives an acceptance letter from Alteron Academy, a letter which promises each child an education into the mystical abilities they possess, regardless of race, gender, or economic status.
As summer draws to a close and the autumn cool sets in students are sent to the Dragon Railway Station, the fastest and easiest way to get to the magically hidden Alteron Academy.
Dragon Railway Station isn't represented by much, and rightfully so; enemies of the Alliance would benefit well from knowing where they could cause great misfortune for the Alliance through their kids. However, those gifted with magic can spot the station entrances easily by the chinese-style dragon's head etched into walls or on the top of arches. After that is it a quick side-slip into the gateway and students from all six years gather around to wait for the transports to arrive.
The station horseshoe shaped to allow for the transports nicknamed "turtles" to dock, with white marbled walls, tiled floors done in mosaic style and enchanted to show mythic creatures that chase each other around the floor.
[We will start at the station, ona foggy morning (7:00 AM), and our players will be students coming to the platform to wait for their first ride to the Academy, and they will also run into older, more experienced students along the way and at the school.]

 Adrianna Hawkins stood in the middle of the train station, looking around, her ticket in her hand and a small suitcase in the other. Gazing about her in wonder, she looked around for the dragon head that would lead her to her new life at the Alteron Academy. Her heart was fluttering with excitement and worry. What will the people be like? Will I really fit in? Will anyone recognize my name and maybe know my parents? Suddenly she regained her composure, making her face calm and emotionless, as she spotted the dragon head on an arch. She made her way to it, constantly being pushed by people as they ran to catch their trains.
