What does the guild think about this verse? Especially the part where it says "Son of Man which is in Heaven"?

I know what my religion has to say about it, but I want to know how other religions interpret it.

Joh 3:13 For no one - For here you must rely on my single testimony, whereas there you have a cloud of witnesses: Hath gone up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven. Who is in heaven - Therefore he is omnipresent; else he could not be in heaven and on earth at once. This is a plain instance of what is usually termed the communication of properties between the Divine and human nature; whereby what is proper to the Divine nature is spoken concerning the human, and what is proper to the human is, as here, spoken of the Divine.

...Wesley

im leaning toward Wesley on this one ....

So what I gathered from this passage that was quoted, Jesus was spirit before He came to earth, He came to earth, gained a physical body, but left His spirit behind?

well actually.. i think this is were we will end up in a trinity debate...
"Christ and the father are one-yet separate"omnipresent.... i said im "leaning in that direction" ... i do not want to argue over this, to me its a relationship that i cannot understand in my finite state.

No I wasn't trying to get in an arguement about it either. I was just trying to see what other people's interpretations of the verse were. Then I was trying to figure out what Wesley was saying.

I hate arguing about the trinity too. There was a thread circulating in this guild a while ago about the trinity. It just went round and round. I don't agree with that Doctrine, never have, even when I was protestant.
But being as Wesley was part of the reform, I think he'd support the trinity.

I'm pretty sure he did and as i say i lean in that direction. yeah a debate about something that can't be definite till we get there really is pointless....
Even from what i understand my church's early views of the "trinity" i wouldn't agree with either.

Well im a Seventh-day Adventist .. and let me get all my facts straight before i put down what they used to believe as far as the trinity..
PostPosted: Thu Oct 29, 2009 7:37 pm

Nvm they didn't believe in the trinity.. they gradually accepted the doctrine ... if you want to read on it here is the link i will not paste the whole thing its crazy long. i confused this with another Adventist branch that adopted a odd version of the trinity.

I tend to Lean in favor of the trinity .. but as before i will not say i know 100% of that relationship, all i know is what the bible it's self say's after that its pretty much private interpretation. As i have said before when i have heard views on this, it in it's self is not a salvation issue. I figure i can worry about it all my life trying to figure it out or i can find out in 2 seconds when i get to heaven.
