The weather was perfect, not too warm, not to cold, the sun was in and out of the clouds. Wendell let the soft breeze wash over him as he sat against a tree in the Death City park. He liked to come here because it let Annabelle run around like a maniac while he practiced. He looked over to his weapon who was having a good time hanging from the monkey bars. She giggled as waved as she swung back and forth. The emo/goth kid smirked and waved back before picking up his guitar.
Anna watched Wendell from her perch, glad to be outside during the day. There were times she enjoyed sunlight and, Wendell being himself, preferred the night. So she spent many nights out in the park as well. But this meant he would be playing his guitar and she loved to listen to him play. She swung back and forth on the monkey bars then ran for the swings. Despite her age she still loved the play ground. And today Wendell had agreed to take her out for a picnic.
A short tuning put him where he wanted on his notes as he got out his sheet music from his backpack. Next to the pack was a lunch basket filled to the brim with delicious sandwiches, fruits, a salad, and a couple of desserts as well as an assortment of drinks. His mother always packed too much but then again at least it feed Anna's voracious appetite. He moved the black hair that normally fell from his face behind his ear while he began to softly play his song. It had a slight latin beat to it but definitely an alternative key.

Following after Rayne as she wove her way around the park and in the general direction of the play set, Dario wondered for perhaps the hundredth time how he had been coerced into this stupid expedition. He would have thought at sixteen Rayne would have long been over any allure the public playground should have once held for her (he had never found them interesting at all... well actually he'd never even been to one before should he be honest).
Slowing his pace as the playground came into view, he was slightly surprised to see another young woman already at play, her odd attire and general appearance making her even more out of place on the colorful metal and plastic equipment. Rayne had evidently noticed her as well, and Dario barely had time to note that the smile that suddenly took up her features was not one of well intentioned play but more malicious intent. Reaching forward hurriedly, he attempted to grab her arm only to miss as the smaller girl went bounding off at full speed, clearly intent on whatever plan had formed in her mind. "Rayne! Wait-!" Ignored, not that he had really expected anything else from the pint sized brat.

"I'd let her go. I hear female Weapons tend to be head strong," a gentle voice came from the tree Dario had stopped next to. A dark clothed teen sat there with a guitar on his lap. He had a lip ring and several piercings in one ear, made him look kinda cute. Black hair, obviously dyed, framed his pale face while brilliant green eyes looked up at Dario. A strange looking picnic cloth was underneath him, skulls and coffins were the prime decoration. A picnic basket was next to a black backpack covered in random band logos as well as another backpack with comic book fight slogans on it like "BAM" "POW" and "WAP". Wendell looked up to the long haired older boy and smiled softly. "I try to let them run their energy off. "
Annabelle looked up as a goth looking girl was running toward the playground, it seemed kinda weird. Anna was wearing her normal clothes; a reaper-like hooded cloak that covered naturally white long hair and orange one piece dress to compliment her yellow eyes. This girl running towards her was completely goth from her hair down to her tall boots. Maybe she could make friends! After all Wendell was kinda goth! And he did say she needed to meet other weapons. Well no time like the present! "Hi there! I'm Annabelle, a Cresent Scythe Weapon. Who are you?"
"I'm Wendell," he pointed out at the dark cloaked female on the swing set, "that's Annabelle. Cop a squat if you like, unless me playing will be annoying," the young man began to strum on the instrument again. He was actually pretty good and would occasionally stop to write some notes down on music sheets.

Blinking somewhat as a male voice sounded next to him, Dario was a bit startled to find the other Tech sitting on the ground beside the tree; he had been to focused on Rayne's mad dash to note if someone had been around or not. Glancing back at his partner, he was relieved to see she had halted and not done something particularly stupid when the other girl came to greet her.
Turning his attention back to the boy sitting on the ground as the other spoke up again, Dario took the offer to sit before bothering with introducing himself, folding one leg under him with the other in a crouching position that made standing or moving much easier than actually sitting would have. "Dario; and that would be Rayne." He nodded in the girls direction, giving a quick check to make sure she was still behaving before returning his attention to his own companion again. "Music does not bother me." He felt no need to elaborate beyond that, intent on letting the conversation lapse if that's what should become of it.
Rayne on the other hand, had been a bit miffed when Dario's yelling seemed to have alerted the other girl of her presence, scowling openly as she muttered a curse at him under her breath. Debating a moment as the other greeted her in an obviously friendly tone, she finally let the scowl slide from her features, replaced by her normal look of false, slightly psychotic innocence, her eyes wide and her lips slightly parted. "I'm Rayne; a sniper rifle." Her tone was slightly blank, somewhat disinterested... introductions really weren't that fun.

Wendell nodded as the man sat and claimed music doesn't bother him. He didn't mind a guy who kept things short and to the point. He usually liked those guys more, they were the quiet type. But he was trained by his every cooking mother that a good host always offers at least a drink. He reached into the picnic basket and held up a juice box, "Thirsty?"
After the offer Wendell went right back to his music, he continued to pluck at the strings until he got all the notes right. Finally he began to play the whole song, making a few more minor changes. "Now for lyrics," he picked up a note pad and made a copy of the music on it before starting to think about what kind of words would go for this kind of music. Unlike some artists, Wendell always made the music first then made the lyrics from being inspired by the music. He felt it was more real and connected.
Annabelle smiled as the girl introduced herself, a rifle huh? That was interesting! "You wana swing?" she pointed to the empty swing next to her as she started to swing her feet back and forth. She seemed far more childish than some might thing, her hood fell back to reveal her long white hair. "I always liked swinging in the park! Me and Wendell would go here all the time after the services."

Studying the box his companion was offering him for a moment, Dario was slightly hesitant to accept but soon enough reached forward to take the juice. "Thank you." Once he was sure Wendell had gone back to his music, he set about studying the small container, taking a few minutes to figure out how exactly the whole thing was supposed to work, but soon enough he had the small straw punched through correctly without making it to obvious he had never even touched one of these before. Well, at least he hoped it wasn't to obvious.
Tuning back into what the other Tech was doing once more, he listened quietly to the melody that was coming from the instrument; it was rather nicely composed and not hard on the ears at all. When the song ended and Wendell moved onto lyrics for the time being, Dario chanced another glance over at what the girls were doing.
Studying the other girl for a few moments, Rayne allowed her face to slip back into a slightly displeased frown before turning her head slightly to regard the offered swing. Her expression quickly morphed back into her slightly crazed looking smile and she charged at the swing, jumping up at the last second so that she landed with her boots planted firmly in the middle of the seat, hands scrambling to grab the chains to keep her from falling back off. After a few more moments of experimentation she found a way to make the swing actually move for her, although the whole thing was probably not the safest way to use the device.

Wendell had side glanced at the tech next to him, hoping he had given him a flavor he wanted. He did notice the confusion in his face as he tried to make the box release its delicious juices but he didn't say anything. Just meant the guy was from an 'uppy up' family. He had dealt with them many times during the funerals. They had no idea how to work the simplest objects that those of the peasant folk greatly enjoyed. Sometimes he introduced wonderful treats like Mr. Goodbar or Snickers to the spoiled youths. But this guy was quite a bit older than most of those kids. Maybe it was time to expose him to more things.
Annabelle watched the other girl run and jump onto the swing. She just kinda stared at her for a moment, wondering if she had gone nuts when it actually worked and the other began to swing gracefully. That was so cool! "Wow! That was really neat! I've never done that on a swing before!" she smiled to the other girl and began to match her swinging with her own. "So how long have you and your tech known each other? Wendell and I met at his house. I was looking for ghosts and instead I met him."
Wendell put his music down for now, moving his guitar aside and opened up the picnic basket. He wondered what else his mother had packed in here. There was plenty for the four of them. Tuna sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, a few lettuce and tomato sandwiches for Wendell, a bowl of salad with smaller separate bowls for serving, peaches, apples, a couple of bananas, cookies, and of course the juice boxes. He began to spread it all out onto the cloth, knowing Anna would be hungry soon so might as well have the grub out. "You are welcome join us, my mom always packs too much. Thinks I'll waste away because I won't eat meat."

Staring skeptically at Rayne for a few moments, Dario was half wishing for her to fall from her new perch for that stunt, although knowing the headaches she'd cause him should she be even slightly injured stopped him from really longing for that outcome. Finally, his attention was drawn back away from the girls and their antics and back towards the dark-haired boy beside him, as he watched with mild interest as he dug about in the picnic box that was sitting in the grass.
Humming softly under his breath to show he was listening, he considered the offer for a moment, not sure what to say; he would be the first to admit he was a little out of it socially sometimes. Was it safer to say no or to say yes? Wendell, however, offered him another topic which he found a bit safer in his uncertainty; "I don't eat meat, either." It was all he would really offer on the topic; his own mother had been the reason for that particular life-style choice, although none of her moral convictions stayed behind his reasons for not eating the stuff... it was just a bit to creepy.
"Have you ever tried to sit, much less swing, in a steel-bone corset? It get's very uncomfortable." Rayne offered, shrugging her shoulders as she continued to sway back and forth on the now moving platform.
"Dario?" She considered the question for a moment, not sure if she wanted to divulge exactly how they had met and consequently partnered. "Not to long ago... we met in a coffee shop." And she had stolen his coffee, much to his displeasure at the time, it's not like he was drinking it or anything....

"Ah, well its nice to have someone else around who shares that taste. Never did like the taste of the stuff, much to dear mother's shagrin," he made two salads. One for him and one for Dario, as he wasn't sure if the girls would want any he left it out for them to get themselves. Little packets pulled from the bottom of the basket held 3 types of dressing; Italian, Blue Cheese, and Ranch. Wendell choose the ranch then looked to Dario, "Salad?"
Wendell was good socially at times but he could tell the other was a little uncomfortable so he didn't attempt to make long conversation and gave him a good reason not to talk. For talking with one's mouth full was hardly appropriate. He placed the egg salad and lettuce/tomato sandwiches near them then looked out to the girls.
"Anna! If you are hungry the food's out."
"I've never worn a corset before, so I wouldn't know. I prefer my robe! It's breezy!" she grinned and nodded as the girl told of her meeting with her tech. It seemed all weapons seemed to just randomly bump into their tech for no apparent reason. No one was introduced or anything, it was simply fate. Then fate intervened again when Wendell called for food.
"Alright! Grub is on! You are welcome to join us, Rayne! It seem's your tech is already helping himself! Mrs. Van de Burg is an excellent cook and always has lots of food to give us!" she hopped down from her swing at the last upward glide then took off towards the blanket.

Hesitating a moment, Dario accepted the offered food, opting not to add any dressing to the salad and instead leave it plain; he liked it better that way for the most part. He would, however, wait for both of the girls to arrive before even touching the dish; he wasn't always sure about conversation but he did know his basic table manners... even if there was no table.
Glancing at the other girl from the corner of one overly made-up eye, Rayne mock shuddered at the idea of wearing such a baggy garment. "I don't think I could ever stand to wear something that loose; I'd feel so awkward!" Her musing were cut short however when she heard the call from in the general direction of the boys, turning her head to study them even as Anna addressed her. Well, if Dario was going to eat, she would to. After all, if he had eaten already chances were he wouldn't let her go out to eat later.
Jumping from the swing, she used the momentum to propel herself into a sprint and head for her technician, grinning widely at him as she arrived. "Making friends~?"

Anna was more than happy sit down to eat. She was starving, then again she always seemed to be hungry. She used energy like a humming bird or something. She selected a tuna sandwich, an apple, a banana, and a few cookies for her meal. She smiled at the male, "Hiya! I'm Anna!"
Wendell smirked at his Weapon, wondering how she had gotten along with the goth looking girl. He put some dressing on his salad and selected a peach for his desert along with the lettuce and tomato sandwich. Dario and his weapon seemed to have an unusual partnership. They hardly seemed like a pair that would be in resonance, then again neither did he and Anna seem well matched other than their family's work.
Anna reached over and offered Rayne a juice box, "This is Rayne, Wendell. She's a sniper rifle! I've never met someone who could turn into a gun before! Most everyone else is a simple type weapon!"
"Well there are many weapons Anna, not all of them are considered ancient or peasant weapons such as yourself. Others can turn into more modern weapons," he had seen a few like the gunblade that one pair turned into.
"Oh yeah! Yeah I forget sometimes that a scythe was a farming tool," she giggled a bit and began to munch on her sandwich.

Nodding at the white haired girl as she arrived, Dario flat out ignored Rayne's comment in favor of introductions; Rayne could annoy him all she wanted later. "Dario." Once that was done however, he felt no more need to really elaborate on it, and once again allowed himself to just watch the others interact around him. Though Anna's perky demeanor did raise an interesting question in his mind; were all weapons this peppy, or just the girls?
Watching as Rayne accepted and opened her own juice box (he noted she had far less trouble with the task than he had), he was content to stay on the outside of the conversation for now, only sending Rayne a dirty look when she proceeded to select cookies as her lunch, although seeing his look she amended it by adding an apple and throwing another one at him.
"You need some sugar with that lettuce or you're going to make me look bad." Rayne whined, wrinkling her nose in an act of mock disgust and pouting playfully, the complaint effectively nullified when she still proceeded to push a cookie into her mouth.

Anna couldn't help but giggle as Rayne threw an apple at her weapon. She seemed like a kid sister wanting attention from big brother. "Wendell picks on me too. I like hot chocolate which he says isn't one the food pyramid. I think he's just jealous cause I love his mother's meatloaf and he won't touch it."
"That isn't true but sugar is not the only part of a diet," he poked her in the side of the head. "You need veggies. Eat your salad and I won't tell my mom what you said about her last batch of oatmeal cookies," he grinned at her.
"You wouldn't dare!! Oatmeal doesn't belong in cookies! But don't you dare tell her I spit it out!" she squeaked and flailed at her grinning technician then proceed to pout into her tuna sandwich. She glanced at the other male sitting with them and pondered why he wasn't talking all that much. She didn't like that and, since she was sore with Wendell at the moment, she would talk to him. "You seem to eat like Wendell. Are you a vegetarian too?"
She looked to Rayne, "Why are skinny boys the vegetarians? You'd think they'd need more nutrition or something."

Having caught the apple before it could connect with any part of his body, Dario was busy glaring lightly at his partner when the other girl had decided to address him directly, leaving him no real out and forcing him to re-enter the conversation. "Yes, I am." He could leave it at that and let her draw her own conclusions, however Rayne seemed more than happy to elaborate where he would not.
"You should have seen the fridge at his apartment when I moved in; it was absolutely horrifying! He had no meat, no sugar, and not a single thing with caffeine; coffee or soda!" She shuddered dramatically at the memory, her pretty face screwed up in disgust. "I had to 'borrow' his wallet and go shopping myself 'cause he wouldn't buy anything good. It's no wonder he's skinny." shifting her eyes towards Dario again, she smirked as he glared at her, although he made no move to argue any of the health benefits of his diet of choice back at her.
Pausing for a moment, she considered before a seemingly innocent smile overtook her face again as she picked up one of the cookies she had grabbed for her own lunch. Lunging forward, she attempted to grab hold of Dario's shirt to keep him in place as she shoved the sugary food into his face, using his surprise to her advantage. The result was him losing his balance and falling backwards as he attempted to jerk away from the sudden assault, a laughing Rayne pulling back a second before she would have fallen with him, the cookie still in her hand but evidently amused none the less.
Hissing somewhat under his breath, Dario glared at her as he pushed himself back up with one arm, using the free hand to push his long bangs back out of his face.

Wendell also kept quite. His dietary choice didn't make much sense to Annabelle either, considering she was a regular carnivore when it came to food. His mother loved to cook for her since she ate nearly anything put in front of her. He looked to the older boy with the one green eye that was exposed through his curtain of dyed black hair. He was quite handsome, quite and to the point. Wendell liked him, the guy probably was the kind that wouldn't date Wendell but ah well. Looking was nice.
He blinked a bit as Rayne suddenly attacked her tech armed with a deadly chocolate chip cookie. He brought back memories of his fights with his mother about becoming a vegetarian.
"I see you have a rather strong headed weapon as well."
Anna had to laugh a bit as Rayne suddenly tried to force feed the cookie to her tech. She had once tried that with a chicken nugget to Wendell's face. It had been an all out battle and the poor nugget and never completed it's mission. She was still determined to get the guy to eat a good rack of ribs before school was over.
She grinned at Wendell, with a look that suggested he had better watch his back or that chicken nugget would come back to haunt him.
"Yeah, Wendell's mom was really upset when he went veggie. She kept trying to make all the meals he use to love to eat but he wouldn't any more. Then there was the chicken nugget incident when..."
"Shut up Anna."
She just giggled.
