Blood Moon, Falling Leaf moon, whatever. I thought I would cross post some thoughts from my blog, and then leave this open to others to post. If I don't ditch out on the group again any time soon, I'll try also to include a Blood Moon general information thread...
full moon is oct. 4th, but the night of oct. 3 is best because it is before the peek (it's like 2am or something on the 4th).
meditate on karma, reincarnation, inner cleansing, letting go, inner harmony, justice, balance.
time when access cattle were slaughtered, blood moon... might be more relevant to call in the falling leaf moon as some sites suggested.
but if we're going with the slaughtering theme, might think of death, nourishment, thanks, life cycles, gifts received, sacrifice made, fruits of labor, preparing for winter, red meat feasting, final harvest, hibernation, the shift between lightness and darkness...
Personally, I am thinking of sort of a yin/yang spell, as well as a full body cleansing, and a list of things I need (and intend) to eliminate, praising the rise of the goddess of death and the decline of the goddess of abundance, smelling the autumn air, eating apples (nom nom). I shy away from major mini rituals because I feel silly doing them alone, but I might write out a ritual plan, and make some outdoor time. It is a Saturday night. I could just stay up late.
It is also coming time (one of the times) when the veil in thinnest, need to line up a list of known ancestors, and a to be honored as well list, and start their altar (have been needing to, but wanted to finish my pipe first, damn it all to grumble grumble).
I also know Papa needs attention, but he requires something else, something seperate, and wants... fire and drumming (dude, I don't have a drum) and drinking (I can't drink rum, silly) and dancing (we're demanding, aren't we?). I also owe him more than a few cowrie shells, and he has not forgotten, so...
