Who's on your wish list for lady of the house?

For me, we have one house spirit, and that's Papa Legba. He is actually the keeper of the cross roads, among many other things. I make for him and altar at our door, with rum, candy, tobacco, and cowrie shells as offerings. He protects our home from foul communication. He blesses all with good intent that pass our threshold. His day is monday, his number is 3 (and it follows 9, and 27 as well). His colors are up for debate. Black and red, white and red... I have nothing color specific for him, so it's not of import right now, although when I light a candle for him, I tend to be drawn to black. He has a ******** up sense of humor, and justice (not really ******** up, just... well, surely you catch my meaning). He has been to me, out of all the deities, my confidant, and probably the only one that I have been able to speak to frankly. The Orisa are like that though (although that is up for debate among paths and practitioners). A sit down with him in the morning with an offering of a cigarrette and cup of black coffee can tell you much about your day and position, as well as what to watch out for and so forth. As the god of communication, in voudon or santeria (or any similar path) he is the first welcomed and *fed* in space so that communication with the deities is clear and possible period, really.

So, thoughts?

I would say that Brid is a hearth and home Goddess in addition to her other attributes. A candle in her honor would be a nice touch, and pink, red and white are her colors. One of her stones is rose quartz, which promotes love and harmony as does one of her scents, rose. Something pretty to have on the family altar in the center of the home would be one of the feng shui (I hope I spelled that right) rose quartz trees, which is said to promote harmony in the home.

Yeah, I draw on Brigid for my hearth and home. It's mostly because I can relate to her various aspects of healer, warrior, and artist. Plus, I prefer the idea of a fiery goddess to guard my hearth and connects to my Irish heritage.

I've been thinking about this more often, since I'll be moving into an apartment this coming June. What do I want represented on the family altar, and whom do I want to invite into my home to look after my family and my kitchen?

sweatdrop Don't take this the wrong way- but did you mean to mix those terms?

Our house has shrines to Ezurlie Dantor, Ezurlie Freda, Papa Legba, the Baron and a few others too. We're an eclectic group- and while my Sir is looking at maybe having his Kanzo in the next couple years- we have people who practice family traditions, liberal Judaism, Norse paganism, people seeking Wicca with a Gard coven and one who practices some kind of new pre-Christian British polytheism.
