Well, reading it the first time wasn't too bad, but it was painful. I went to see the movie... big mistake. Edward is not in any way cute (to me). The hot one would be the actor who played James. The Twilight hype is really getting on my nerves. And I hate that vamps sparkle. *shudders*

My thoughts on this are simple. I don't care for the books nor the movie as the author has tried to put a new spin on vampirism and has essentially made it teeny bopper porn pretty much.
The only thing that annoys me is now there are idiots out there who think that all vampires began with Twilight and that we all sparkle and drive Volvo's. I hate how people become rabid fans of something so stupid.

leowitch i hated the movie, and I haven't read the books. Movie was... dreadful. But the books were actually okay. You just have to look past how much Meyers screwed everything up, and really get into just the story, just the characters, and just the emotastic fail that is Edward. L. O. L.

I think it was a pretty good series to be honest... I'll admit it wasn't perfect and I never understood the whole sparkle crap but hey, there is usually a method to the madness. Personally, I think Edward was awesome. In the movie however, he creeped the s**t out of me until the middle to end of the movie. It wasn't as good as the books, but most movies aren't.

Wanna know the best example I've found of a book butchered by its movie? Eragon. Oh, god, it was dreadful. Haha.

Alright, upon seeing this topic I had to say something. Stephani Meyer is a horrible author who gets her kicks off selling dollar store love to emo kids who think that Edward is the best man ever. Granted, he is tolerable, it's Bella that I hate. She feels the need to put herself in harms way to get Edwards dashing attention. That's not what love is. That's called attention whoring.
Also, I have to warn you all. Saying the name of said horrible book/movie will only make it grow in power. =D
And, just throwing this out there, Sloth, I agree with you. They completely botched Eragon. I saw it in the theater and literally cried. All the time that author spent writing those wonderful books and the movie director he got stuck with sucked a**. They cut out HUGE chunks of the book. I'm getting teary just thinking about it.

The big thing though is after this series and all of the other vampire books (too many to list) it has made it extremly hard on the vampyre community. I mean yeah it was hard back when there were less vampiric infatuations but now no one believes you when you say that you are. They all say "yeah whatever" and "so is the next kid who reads (insert book name here)." I think that they need to invent a new type of character, that way not as many people will be obsessed with vampires or werewolves.

Well, Mummies are hard to write for, Ghosts can't really do the whole lovey dovey things without a body, and people generally think Faeries are lame (its a damn shame; Gancanaghs make for some good book action)... We're stuck with vampires and werewolves until aliens catch on again.
