My mother is Mormon. Okay. That's all well and good. (For the record, I am NOT.)

There are church people over. Ma made several comments about her depression. Okay. Good. She's doing stuff to get over it. Finally went to the doctor, taking her meds, etc.

One of the guys is her cousin. He's decent. The other guy is his new companion dude... they teach in pairs. He flat out told my mom that her depression is caused by a lack of faith!

Lmfao. xD This is why I love religion. Ignorant morons who say things because of recycled garbage they hear from their said religion without even thinking about what they are actually saying or why they are saying it.
It's also due to fear, alot of the time. That statement probably has more to do with him than your mom.

I dunno about fear... he seemed more elitist than anything else. Mormons seem bad about that. A lot of them are nice, normal people... but many of them are arrogant pricks. *sighs*

It was very hard to keep my mouth shut while he was telling my mom all those things. The douche.

I do believe the emotional states we get into have a link to our spiritual side. But that dude can't ignore that even if we are spiritual beings, at the moment we're in physical, biological bodies. If we need to take meds and change aspects of our lives to help with the depression, then that's what needs to be done. If only having faith in a deity would cure us of all our ills...

Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain... It causes such things as over eating, no eating, suicide, anger, sadness, feelings of hopelessness. If any god is going to punish a person for not having faith in him by ******** with their heads, I don't want anything to do with him.

However, in my case my depression is caused by stress, and the stress creates an imbalance in my body's chi. But I don't know if that's the problem with everyone.

I do know, though, that my mother's depression is not a lack of faith issue, nor do I think her god is giving her a trial she must overcome. Life just sucks sometimes, and we have to get over it. Not everything is ordained by God... if it was, then how can they seriously argue the legitimacy of their precious Freewill.
