we've all heard many stories about vampyres, so i'd like to hear how you think we came to be. this can be what you think, what youve heard that sounds best, etc.
this is what i was taught in my community.
first it started off as just vampyres. As times came, many started to experiment with bloodletting and magic. (This also deals with alchemy.) Something happened while a few were bloodletting and the chemicals had got inside the blood stream, killing the vampyres cells; or moreso, redirecting them into human cells. These ones were cast out, and began to reproduce. After centuries, the vampyres began to die out, and then they found that the ones they cast out controlled some substance to keep a vampyre sane.
so basically- the thing they were given that separated them evolved into the thing we dont have, which is why we need human blood. that nutrient helps our blood keep reproducing.

Vampires?
Well this kind of goes with my beliefs in religion too.
I think we all started out as wolves then some of our "people" wished to remain wild while others wanted more in life (normal people) Those who stayed wild and ture to the nature of a wolf began to change along with the normal ones. Well far down the line we all began to look like humans and those who were wild wanted to feel like themselves again, thus vampires of all kinds began to feed from what ever they could. Than again (being I has told this a LONG time ago) I could be wrong. sweatdrop

Here's one I've found on an old site I used to frequent. Pretty interesting stuff, IMO. http://reapersofblood.net/a/index2.html
Quote: History of Vampyrism Vampyres have been walking the Earth for as long as human culture can remember. Even the most ancient nations had records mentioning Vampyres or similar creatures. This, of course, isn't the exact time Vampyres appeared here, they had been here long before first written records started to appear. So when exactly did we appear here? The truth of the matter is, nobody can tell for sure. Most of the scrolls containing valuable information about our history were lost in fire of the Great Library in Alexandria. The rest remains hidden and closely guarded and only a select few has access to them. What we know for sure is, that the first Vampyre was Kain (not to be confused with the biblical Kain or the V:TM character). Kain, known as the father of all Vampyres, lived at night and preyed on humans. He later found another of his kind, a female nowadays called Marind (her real name actually remains unbeknownst, this name is just a substitute commonly used when we refer to her). Together they had 13 children, who started the 13 original clans. Although there are many, many more clans as of now, the original clans don't exist anymore. Also, let it be known that these 13 original clans have absolutely nothing to do with the clans used in Vampire: The Masquerade. Their names were also completely different and not many Vampyres actually know them, which is why I'm not listing them here. As of today, Kain is the only one of our ancestors that remains alive. He is sleeping in a sealed tomb, which is heavily guarded by many things and can never be unlocked. Its actual location will always remain secret to most of Vampyres, because any unwanted intrusion could actually awake him. If this happened, many mortals and Vampyres alike would surely die. You see, imagine being someone as powerful as Kain, sleeping for thousands of years, when you are suddenly woken up. Having not eaten anything for so long, your urge to feed would be immense and considering someone as Kain, its hard to estimate how far this would go. As for Kain's mate, after Kain was entombed, the records lost track of her and no one is really sure what actually happened to her, or even if she may still be alive today Almost all of our remaining ancestors were killed off during a series of clan wars which forced the rest to turn to humans as their breeding partners in order to prevent our complete destruction. However, this resulted in our bloodlines being gradually watered down as every Vampyre ultimately became part human. Although still Vampyres, we aren't nearly as powerful as our ancestors and don't possess many abilities that used to be quite common amongst our kind. This is actually where some of the legends originated. Some of them used to be partially true, Vampyres could move incredibly fast, change colour of their eyes, they were able to heal even heavy wounds in a short time (although not instantly as sometimes depicted in various fiction) etc. However, did they really feed only on blood? How strong adverse effects did the Sun have on them? Hard to say. Because of the loss of our records, the precise characteristic of our ancestors will most likely never be known. Author: Montag the Wise Fascinating. However, this would also mean that we were very sneaky-sneaky or that the Illuminati is for reals and has been running a very good cover-up of any other historical data since the aforementioned fire. I'll just stick with my "I don't know why or how we exist" train of thought.

I don't necessarily believe in it. But honestly not a lot surprises me anymore, so I think it's possible.

Are we supposed to be sneaky? I haven't been, not in the least bit. I might as well have made flashing neon signs saying "LOOK! REAL VAMPIRES!." lol.

-shrugs- I suppose it depends on your type and how strong your instinct is to stay hidden.
Personally, I more so adhere to the belief that vampires are descendants of the Nefilim. But you know, that's just me.
