THE SHOW:
Dollhouse is an American science fiction television series created by writer-director Joss Whedon under Mutant Enemy Productions. The show premiered on February 13, 2009 on the Fox network. On Feb. 10, 2009, Dushku told reporters in a conference call that Whedon has a 5-year plan for the show, and has decided how his characters will evolve through that point.

Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls". The Dolls are people whose personalities and existence in the outside world have been wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personæ—including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language—for different assignments (referred to as engagements). The new persona is an amalgam of several real people, and the end result necessarily incorporates both strengths and flaws from the template personalities. The Actives are then hired out for particular jobs, which can be anything from crimes to fantasies to the occasional good deed. On engagements, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between engagements they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The Dollhouse is located somewhere in Los Angeles and is a subsidiary of a mysterious research group known as the Rossum Corporation.

After the May 8, 2009 airing of the Season 1 finale, "Omega", the series went into a brief hiatus before being renewed for a second season of thirteen episodes. On November 11, 2009 Dollhouse was canceled, but the remainder of the season will be aired on television.

Cast List Season 2
Character - Actor
Echo/Caroline/Omega - Eliza Dushku
Boyd Langton - Harry J. Lennix
Topher Brink - Fran Kranz
Paul Ballard - Tahmoh Penikett
Victor/??? - Enver Gjokaj
Sierra/Priya Tsetsang - Dichen Lachman
Adelle DeWitt - Olivia Williams
Dr. Claire Saunders/Whiskey - Amy Acker
Senator Daniel Perrin - Alexis Denisof
Ivy - Liza Lapira
Bennett - Summer Glau
November/Mellie/Madelaine Costley - Miracle Laurie

THE FANS:
Whedon himself coined the term "actives" on his site whedonesqe as a suggestion for the name of the show's fanbase, following in the footsteps of Firefly. Actives have taken their name to the core and actively promote the show, to the point of creating "save Dollhouse" campaigns prior to the show's premier.

Our friend Tony was visiting from the mainland and he hadn't seen Dollhouse and I hadn't finished watching it - so we went through the series over the past week.

Now, I was not instantly sold on Dollhouse from the start - I won't lie. From episodes 1 (Ghost) to 5 (True Believer) I was skeptic. BUT! I saw the potential, and I have insane amount of trust in Joss Whedon so I stuck with it.

And sweet God am I ever glad I did. HOLY SNAP CAKES OF FRIGGIN' SWEET AWESOMENESS.

BOOOOOOOY DID THE ALPHA REVEAL MAKE ME SCREAM WITH SHOCK/JOY.

Who is every one's favorite characters?

I thought everyone on the show was awesome!
I heart Victor! whee
I feel bad for what happened to him in the end... crying
I SO did not see the Alpha reveal coming.
I was totally blown away by that and was majorly freaking out even after the episode (Alpha) ended.
That and the Omega season finale were crazy-good and I can't wait to see what else Whedon comes up with next!

On a side note, I'm horrible w/ remembering names...could you make a cast list? sweatdrop
Mostly, when talking to Adam, I say "Badger from Firefly", or "the guy from the Matrix 2 & 3" or "Helo from Battlestar Galactica" when trying to talk about those characters. xp

Haha! Yeah, I'll make a cast list and add it- good idea!

I love Victor and Sierra a lot, but I also have a soft spot for Topher, Adelle, and I am in deep-deep woman love with Amy Acker so Dr. Saunders (Whisky) is also a favorite. Actually, I warmed up to pretty much all the characters (November, I'll miss youuuuuuuuuu. You make me sad!) I even like Alpha in a batshit crazy way.

And speaking of batshit crazy Alpha, I have to say, Whedon casting Alan Tudyk was just absolutely friggin ingenious. Playing with audience expectation, or at least my own, made the reveal all that much more shock/squeal worthy. When I saw Tudyk I got excited - because he's Alan Tudyk! Lovable, humorous Alan Tudyk! The man who asked to be a voice in Halo 3 because he's obsessed with it. I've seen this man be pushed by Nathan Fillion down a hall way in a wheel chair with a poll in a one way jousting contest. I don't know about you guys but I did not see him being Alpha at all. AT. ALL. And I won't lie; as great as the Alpha reveal was I was sad that the Stephen Kepler hippie character had to go bye-bye.

THE CUTTING UP OF VICTOR'S FACE MADE ME UBER TEARFUUUUUUL.

Ok, Alan Tudyk is not just an amazing actor, he is like the actor.
He has such a wide range it's unbelievable.
I mean, I've seen him as a ***** on CSI: Las Vegas, which he played so well it was down right creepy!

I totally flipped at his 180 from a paranoid hippy to psycho crazy badass.
It was amazing and completely unpredictable and it just seemed to come to him so naturally.
Which totally made me think, "OMG! So he's the genius behind everything! He knew Ballard would eventually find the Dollhouse (with his guidance) and needed him to get inside so he could get Echo. He planned this whole break-in from episode ******** GENIUS!

And then it was like, "OMG! And behind all of this is Whedon and it's his genius that came up with Alpha's plot and all the little intricacies of Dollhouse! How amazing is he to be able to balance so many characters w/ an awesome story and infinite possibilities?!" <******** GENIUS!

I liked Buffy and Angel...I thought Firefly was great...Dr. Horrible was hilarious...but this, Dollhouse, is a whole new level of awesome.

I can't wait to see where the second season goes now that the show seems to have found its footing - and I'm eternally grateful that we don't have another Firefly on our hands (yet) and that we get to see where Joss wants to take these characters.

I'm re-watching Season 4 of Angel and oddly it's getting me excited for Dollhouse; watching keeps reminding me how much Joss's shows are a wonderful blend of humor, drama, and very solid steady character development. xd heart

I was so relieved when I found out Dollhouse was being renewed!
Adam sent me this email that listed all the network tv shows and which were being cancelled, post-poned/in hiatus or renewed.
Sadly, Terminator wasn't renewed but I think Dollhouse deserved it more.

I hope there's a panel for the 2nd season at Comic-con... ninja

With all Whedon works there's a certain amount of payoff. There's an ongoing underlying doom waiting for the characters. It's the thing that's whispered about, but usually not confronted until last act. Buffy followed this formula precisely with every season. Angel did it specifically with the fourth season, but over all the entire show is one story with the underlying eeeeevil being Wolfram and Hart. Firefly had the Alliance, and due to the show being cut short we don't see the confrontation until the movie.

Dollhouse has Alpha, and in the last act of this season he lives, which makes me wonder if this is going to be an evolving threat. We have his measure now, but there's a ton of room for growth. Smart move having him get away. This role can easily be a defining one not only for Dushku, but for Tudyk, who really should be more popular than he is right now. He's a Kevin Spacey quality actor. He doesn't always get the lead role, but he makes everyone around him look brilliant.

So, we checked out Whedonesque.com and found out that a Comic-Con exclusive version of Dollhouse season 1 will be available only at Comic-Con. There'll be 5,000 sets (1/2 dvd and 1/2 blu-ray) all numbered and pretty and special and shiny. Something about a special cover and a letter from Whedon.
What happens is, you can pre-order them and then pick them up at the specific booth or if you can't make it, give someone else ur code and have them pick it up.
They also said that there will be some on sale at Comic-Con if you don't want to pre-order but the likelyhood of getting those is tiny.

I think we're going to do it... ninja

OMG PRE-ORDER OOOOOOOOOOOONE! I'm gonna get the DVD as soon as it comes out! How much is it? Maybe you could get me one and I'll pay you back when you visit? ninja

I'm excited Alpha got away too - who knows where that character will end up. Personally, I hope he turns into a Wesley. What I mean by that is that the character grows from his original starting point so much he is barely recognizable at the end of the series. I don't care what anyone has to say about the character, in my opinion Wesley Wyndam-Pryce from season 3 of Buffy into 5 seasons of Angel is one of the most amazing developed characters I've ever seen on TV. EVER. I will not ruin the tragic badassery that is Wesley Wyndam-Pryce but knowing that that character evolved like he did gives me high, high hopes and expectations for Alpha.

'Cause lets face it; as initially interesting as Alpha is, he doesn't have much going for him as a character even with 48 personalities imprinted on his brain. Being crazy isn't much of a character trait, or at least not yet. If he can get enough screen time maybe his type of crazy will become his character; we know it can be doing because we've all seen Firefly and know River Tam. She had time to develop though, as she was in more episodes then Alpha at this point.

Ok, here's the dilly:

So on July 6th at 10am, the blue ray/dvd comic-con editions of Dollhouse go on sale at FoxStore.com. You have to pre-order on their website by July 20th.

You totally should whee

Adam's also made the Dollhouse panel at Comic-Con a top priority.

We're hoping to buy another camera so we can use one for videos and one for pics or something like that, so that we can record panels.
