I figure that I'm probably not the only person here that eats specialty food, be it ethnic or special diet.
Since most of us move rather frequently and it can be tough trying to find specialty foods, I figured a guide might be useful.
So list what you know.

Note: The commissary does not carry GF products other then one type of spaghetti and a few types of flour. If you want to buy at the commissary you have to have them special order the food.

Gluten is the protein in wheat, barley, rye and a couple of other things, also, some foods, like oats, can be cross contaminated by being processed in the same plant.
So gluten free food is food with alternative products, like rice, corn, potato, tapioca, all of those are types of flour that I use commonly.
It can make it difficult to find food that I can eat without getting extremely sick.

Ft. Wainwrights commissary has a variety of "quick" vegetarian meals. Its not a huge selection by any means, but they do have quite a few things from morning star as well as a good selection of tofu. I'm sure it would be this way with most commissaries.
They're lacking quite a few things but, with how vegetarianism is gaining more acceptance in main stream its not very hard to be able to go to Walmart or any other chain grocery store and find vegetarian friendly food.

Wow I have never heard of coeliac before. I read the part about the Symptoms including chronic diarrhœa I was like oh noes! That sounds horrible gonk Ahh that sucks, I've never really had a problem like that. I just eat whatever : Which is why I'm a chunky bunky monkey.

I had always heard from my sisters friend about gluten free bread for her little brother and sister becauce they children have Austim. But I never asked her WHY they needed that and when you mentioned "gluten" I was like "Hey I've Heard That Before" hah soo I just learned something new today =)

It's been shown that Autistic children/adults do better on a Gluten/Casein free diet. Gluten is the protein in certain grains and Casein is the protein in milk.
