I'm trying to setup a Linux home server. I'm currently running kbuntu but would like to have a bit border support for network cards. I plan on setting up a software raid on it with jbod. I'm not sure if this is possible. I may set it up to be a web server later on down the line.

The server has
1 AMD Athlon XP 2200+
2.5 Gb Ram.
10/100/1000 NIC (This card works just fine in Linux)
1 10/100 linksys NIC (This is the one with problems)
6 HDDs (the Linux OS resides on a 80gb HDD)
1 DVD ROM drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

You Should Probably post this in the Tech Support sub form where more people that are feeling helpful will probably look.

The Closest thing I've done to runing a server is when I setup a FTP Service on my laptop to transfer some files over my LAN
You might just want to setup a local FTP server and transfer files from there if your just using it for storage

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU

Right I'll make a post there... -.-' I want to be able to use smb to move files back and forth, besides I stream video from my server to my hacked xbox. Thanks for the help.
