No person kills each other. Society has developed into a state in which being a murderer is something to fear. After the Great War, all the good natured people grew and developed a similar opinion about killing people. The common opinion is that there is NEVER ANYTHING worth killing someone else for. In aiding in this trend, everyone’s weapons were given a conscience that acted as a “Jiminy Cricket” of sorts. The weapon would not allow its wielder to let it be used to kill in case someone got careless. The weapons are not able to kill a person. Combat among people would be engaged for as long as a fighter has a weapon to fight with AND if the fighters are currently wielding their weapons.

I don’t know how to most accurately say this because one of my creative think heads put it into the perfect words that I can’t quite remember right now, but if I am correct in what I do remember it was something along the lines of, people feared what might happen if they continue to kill each other. That fear eventually sparked the Great War. The war to end all killing. On one side, those who felt there was always a reason to kill. Those of the other side believed nothing was ever worth killing for. Those who fought for life, won. Then the New Way happened. But the fear of the effects of murder still exists in the people who survived the Great War.

The weapons cannot kill anyone. Even if you swung your sword at someone's neck, the sword has many means of preventing itself to kill someone like density changing or even material changing. (The sword could be as heavy as 200 tons or it could phase itself right through the attempted victim. or it could turn into water and drain out of the wielder’s hand and rematerialized just before it splashes on the ground.) The feeling is more than just an instinct. It’s more like a feeling that totally washes over you. The owners know what their weapon is "saying" (but without using words) because their weapon is attuned for each person.
