While it's what I wish they had done from the start instead of the ridiculous "Oh, but some won't be soulbound!", I don't think it'd be fair to deprive people of their investments at this point.

I think this is a case of too little too late. It really doesn't make any sense to soulbind them all just because some people don't know or bother to read the post about soulbinding.
And that's without the mention of the insane prices that will result from people scrambling to buy and sell the rings.
