Discuss It Here
Death metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal. It typically employs fast tempos, heavily distorted guitars, deep growling vocals, morbid lyrics, blast beat drumming, and complex song structures with multiple tempo changes.

I too hardly like death metal, but I like a few and even venture into the slam death genre for absolute brutality.. and low tuned guitars ^.^
Death Metal
Death - The only band to really always surpass their previous album with the next one, always and flawlessly while changing their sound... no, reforming their sound for the better. Truly masterful musicianship. Of course, that is my personal wager and opinion for them.
Nile - I always thought Deathspell Omega was extremely technical and that's still true; but Nile.. they are insanely talented and Karl Sanders is relentless with his over powering knowledge on mythological and historical context to his songs. I mean writing an essay to explain everything in detailed summary? Brilliant. And the songs he comes up with.. amazing. They are also great live and a good show for any metal head.
Hate Eternal - I love wind milling, and these guys definitely create wind milling tunes. I enjoy the earlier material more, but newer stuff is still bearable, albeit talented.
Goatwhore - I know it's blackened death metal, but they've always ******** owned on the last two cds, and even when they were straight BM, they still ripped it out. One of the best live bands I've seen too.
Thy Flesh Consumed - I don't know how I found them, but I happened across them one day and they are crushing. I have no info on where they hail or any previous work. I have an album called Unrepentant and it's decent enough to warrant multiple listens.
Into The Moat - Technical Jazz Death Metal.. what's not to love?
Suffocation - They were one of the forefathers of the genre and from what I understand were one of the first to truly embrace the blast beat. That kinda recognition, if true, earns them various listens for sure. They do it odd, but they do it well.
Slam Death
Abominable Putridity - Russian brutality. Great band live, I hear.
Devourment - Excellent.
SikFuk - Porno Slam Death Grind? Amusing to listen to at least once.
