This topic is discussing our various opinions on how Olimar did when he appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I'd say the developers did a good job sticking to Olimar's playing style. In Brawl it fits the playing style of what Olimar did in Pikmin. (using Pikmin to do all the work for him.) What does everyone else think?

I agree. Olimar is a character that needs skill for him to play great. But they had to make a stage that sucks for him, which is Summit. Walls cannot be grabbed, so bye-bye theter recovery. Also, all Pikmin die if they fall to the water(Except Blue).

I find that Olimar is really powerful when he's up in the air. His ground moves tend to have little effect in comparison. A good strategy that I found was to make short hops with an F-air and leap over opponents that are charging and use a D-air, if you use his maximum range you will almost always catch people off guard. He's a well built mid-range character, just need to watch for those ledge guards and tether before someone grabs it.

His smash his decent, but it isn't that great. You can still move to get out of the way

yes, next to link, olimar is my top character. Even though most of his attack lack any momentum, he has a unique, difficult-to-master, variable fighting style. And when im fighting pikachu i usually just grab him throw him off the stage and then give him an airiel D-attack.

I only play Olimar(and sometimes Wario)but when I get the final smash I'll wait in the center(if there's a roof I wait up there)and when someone gets close enough I use it,they get stuck in the ground, eaten, and I hit them with the ship. It's all good fun.

meh.. both Jigglypuff and Olimar are tough to master, but are deadly in the hands of an expert (i.e. not me). I find that my biggest challenge with using Olimar is taking care of the pikmin. Especiallly in Subspace, where the closing doors and moving platforms show no mercy to the little guys.

They made him a very unique character, being the only one to harness all types of element-themed moves (electricity, fire, ice [There isn't water damage in Brawl, so Blue pikmin got ice disguised as water kind of like Squirtle], and poison). Not only that, but he's my best character in a normal Brawl (not including Solo events like Boss Battles or Home run contest).

Mecha soda_pop_4 olimar is hard to master. my friends sister says hes the weakast carecter[next to gigllie puff or wateaver] but if you know how to use him hes awsome biggrin There is no such thing as 'a weakest character.' Because all of them could potentially be great, you just have to master them. most should say 'They deal the least amount of damage.' And even that is false about Olimar. His charged smash moves have quite a bit of launch power and damage strength. If I was to give a character the "They deal the least amount of Damage,' it'd probably be Diddy Kong. Though he does have moves that could kill someone easily if they have a lot of damage, most of his moves focus more on speed, not strength. Other low dealers are Meta Knight, Jiggly puff and Sonic, but most of their moves have a bit more launch, especially Jiggly's.
