A ways north of the Town of Crossroads lies a small village by the name of Tradewind. This village has remained untouched by war or strife since its formation. It has long since been a final rest stop for warriors of the Holy Light to drop in and resupply before returning to the Holy City or a first friendly zone to visit on their way to war. Despite its past connections with the Holy Knights, the town has welcomed any and all visitors and forbidden combat within its peaceful borders.

Shiroka was a little confused. She had assisted to a fight between obviously a Holy Knight and Dark Knight, but so few words had been exchanged that she wondered what was really going on. The fight had occured days ago. She had been traveling a little everywhere, trying to collect information, but so far, few were really useful.
It was almost night when the swan maiden arrived the the Tradewind. The place seemed very quiet and almost peaceful. She could hear some voice coming from the small little inn in the middle of the village. For once she decided that she would sleep in a bed and not in the nature. She pushed the inn's door and was welcomed by the warmth of the fire and the sweet odor of food. She smiled, although she was not fully at ease in this environment of men. Quietly she made her way to a small table in a corner, next to the fire and sat.

Ryu entered the small inn quietly. She had just come from the church in this peaceful town, from a long week of a silent vigil and prayer. It was her custom to hold a vigil for a week once every two months.
She held a serene smile on her pale face as her hand fondled the silver cross held in her right hand. The cross burned her flesh with an icy chill, but she simply held it tighter, uttering a small prayer to God under her breath as she walked to the corner.
Ryu would have sat down at her usual spot, but it seemed another lovely maiden had taken up her position. Ryu smiled politely. The women was not human, this was and instant recognition. Her scent gave her away. She was not a demon either it seemed.
"Ah, Good evening. May I accompany you at this table?" Ryu asked sweetly, her voice holding a melodic tone to it.

Shiroka was lost in her thoughts when she heard speaking. Before raising her eyes, she started speaking "One hot te..." as her eyes reached the creature in front of her, she blushed. "I am sorry... I thought...you were the waitress..." she apologized. To the stranger's request, Shiroka smiled and immediately accepted. "Surely. Please."
The swan maiden could not help but look at the other woman at her table. She was truly beautiful. Her face was as pale as Shiroka's but her hair were long and black. Shiroka noticed the cross. That dissipated the strange feeling that had traveled along her spine when her sapphire eyes had crossed the woman's eyes at first. "So...you believe too?" she asked gently.

Ryu smiled as Shiroka mistook her for a waitress. It was understandable. She was robed in black and white clothing. If one was lost in thought, it was an understandable error. Still, Ryu took her seat, setting the cross lightly atop the table first, and then sitting with her hand folded on top if it. As if to protect it from any evil that might be there.
Ryu smiled again at Shiroka's strange observation. She believed too? Oh yes, a thousand times yes. Had this women known Ryu's past, her faith too would be solidified. Of all things, Ryu knew she was the strangest in the world. A demon seeking redemption from God that many humans even doubted. But Ryu had seen his holy face in many, and bowed herself to his mighty power.
"Ah, yes. I am a devout follower of His Word." Ryu smiled, responding in her charmingly melodic voice. "And you?"

Shiroka liked the woman's voice. It sounded like a song. She loved singing and playing the flute herself and just listening to Ryu was like listening to music. "I believe too. Although I might not have your fervor." she added with a soft chuckle. A shadow of sadness passed in the swan's eyes for a second. Remembering consciously her faith was remembering the source of her faith, her Queen.
A woman approached. This time Shiroka checked first to be sure that she was the waitress. The strong blond woman had a strange accent. "Vat do you vant?" she asked with a friendly voice. Shiroka ordered a hot green tea and a plate of fresh garden veggies. She then turned to Ryu waiting for her to order. "And for you?" asked the waitress.

Ryu laughed softly at Shiroka's comment about religions fervor. Her laugh was like the ringing of bells in the soft summer's wind. Yes, of course. Most believed in Him, but could not reach her level of devoutness. She had no other choice. If not but for the salvation of her soul, and for that tragic thing that had shown his face to her in the first place. Ryu prayed quietly in her mind, sending the Lord thanks and praise for her life.
And now, another women approached. A women whom Ryu knew well as the snotty, bitchy, slutty waitress. 'Love they enemy as thyself', she reminded herself. Placing her most serene smile upon her delicate face, Ryu turned her head to the unclean waitress.
"I will have boiled earl grey tea ma'am." Ryu said quietly and sweetly before turning her head back to Shiroka. She had spoken as if the women was her dear friend, and her face or manners gave nothing away about her true feelings towards the women.

The waitress nodded and disappeared. She was not going to waste her time with a 100% female table. She had far better table to attend.
Shiroka realized that she had not introduced herself. "My name is Shiroka. May I ask yours?" she asked softly. Ruy's voice was not louder than Shiroka and yet the pale woman felt like she had some ease and inner authority which she was lacking. As if she could feel some power in the woman's voice despite its sweet tone and melodic accent. Shiroka was not realizing that she was always comparing herself to the others and always finding herself lower. Despite the faith of the Queen in her abilities, the jokes and insults of every one else against her had marked the woman for life.

Ryu watched as the waitress walked off, reminding herself again, 'Love thy enemy as thyself'. Had she taken that oath for nothing? No. Mustering all her effort, she overcame the dislike she harbored for the women and turned her attention back to Shiroka as she spoke.
Ryu smiled again as Shiroka introduced herself. Such a lovely name. It suited such a lovely maiden as herself.
"I am Ryu, of the Holy Knights. Pleased to meet you Lady Shiroka. You have a beautiful name, and it suits you well. Don it with pride." Ryu advised with an ever-present serene smile upon her ethereal pale face.

Shiroka blushed and looked down. She was not at ease with compliments. "Thank you Lady Ryu..." she whispered. Her name. Shiroka. The White Fire. The Queen had given her that name due to her control of the White Flame.
The Queen..The Queen..The Queen.. In any memory she was present. When she was younger Shiroka had rebelled herself against this mother like figure who was so omnipresent in her life. The Queen had smiled and let her be, letting the pale maiden coming back to her. Shiroka had learned to accept the Queen as the most important person in her life, was it when she was alive or now when death had taken her away.
The waitress broke Shiroka's thoughts, bringing two teas and the vegetable plate. She left the Holy Knight and the Red Guard women without a word. Shiroka looked at Ryu. "Aren't you eating anything Lady Ruy?" she asked, surprised that the Holy Knight was only drinking tea.

Ryu gave a small sorrowful smile to Shiroka. She didn't know, how could she? Demons feasted on the flesh and blood of humans. But Ryu was a servant of God now, she was prevented from such things as eating. And so, she fasted from humans, only to taste the cooked meat of cow or some other animal only once a day. Anymore, and she would start paining for humans. Even to get so far as she had, the withdrawls had been something out of hell. But Ryu would know, she had been to Hell after all.
"No, I'm afraid not. I've just come from a week-long vigil. I can't eat such things so quickly after a vigil." Ryu explained with her sorrowful smile. That much was true.

Shiroka noticed the change in the woman's smile. She still had that soft way of speaking, as if she was singing a lullaby, but there was a hint of sadness in her words. "I do not eat meat." she answered as if it was an excuse for having a plate in front of her.
The truth was dual. First she had tried meat once and her body of swan, because even in human form she remained a swan, could not accept it. Second she could not stand the idea of eating another animal, being one herself.
The white woman munched on her lettuce with delight, that was her preferred food from far. Sadly, without any seasoning or cream, that was a negative energy food and eating too much of it was ...tiring her. But she just could not help it.
At the words 'week-long vigil' Shiroka's eyes opened wide. "Waoooh! This is long...and you don't eat anything during that week? You are so devoted. I envy you." the woman looked at her plate to avoid the demon's eyes. "Well I guess there is a reason why I am not a Holy Knight after all..." she whispered.

Ryu smiled at Shiroka's response. They were two of a kind, but again, Shiroka had given her only part of the story. It was only fair after all. A half-truth for a half-truth. Such things were the nature of life. Another reason to be thankful to her merciful God for ignoring such natural rules and keeping her life spared. But was that really merciful? Would she be better off dead? The Lord knows all, and all is according to his plan. She was destined to meet Shiroka here tonight, and so she would help Shiroka in any way God wanted her to. Perhaps there was something Shiroka had to offer her too.
Ah, Ryu watched with envy as Shiroka happily munched upon her greens. If only her body would permit her to eat such thing. Sadly though, her body rejected all things plant. Only meat would satisfy her demonic body. Ah, but she shouldn't be envying such a women. Perhaps she was a bit too quick to judge her.
But Ryu's attention was diverted from her thoughts as Shiroka commented upon her vigil. Ryu smiled serenely again. Yes, she only hoped that her devotion would bring the salvation she searched for. How selfish of her, to look for only her own salvation.
"No, no. Most Holy Knights do not attend such a vigil. I have my own reasons why I must go to such a thing, but I won't bore you with that old tale." Ryu said softly, sadness hinting in her voice again. She quickly diverted from the subject and spoke again, "But no. There is no food, only water. So, where do you hail from?"

Loki noticed that not many people were here but the two that cought his attention of the only people in there was two people siting at a table havinga convorsation. Loki's ears twitched back and forth as he listened in although it was obviouse that he was there there wasnt any way that anyone could miss the beautiful creature that had entered the inn. Shiroka was listening to Ruy with attention while eating her vegetables. The woman on the other side of the table seemed as thoughtful as she was. They both seemed to have memories which they wanted not to remember and memories which they wished were alive. The swan maiden was about to answer when a unique creature entered the place.
Shiroka looked at it with child's eyes. So beautiful. Her eyes brushed the wings and beauty of the fur, and those glowing eyes. She was staring at it...and only noticed that the creature was staring back after a while. Shiroka turned to Ruy, a little embarrassed by her attitude and tried not to look at the flying creature anymore. But while seconds passed, she could feel the gaze on both of them. She looked at Ruy and asked. "Do you know this creature? Is that a friend of yours?" as she did not know the creature, she assumed that Ruy did.
