The main difference between creationism and evolution is that one theory holds water and the other is just a fairy tale.
There is no debate within the scientific community about how it all happened.
The problem is that religious goons are trying to convince us all that the Bible just isn't full of crap. Creationism is supported by a bunch of people with little or no interest in actual facts. They're probably related to the people who insisted the Sun circled around the Earth - not the other way around (yeah, people actually thought we were the center of the Universe once). Science figured that out, and now even the religious goons believe it. So what is so hard about understanding that we descend from monkeys?

The media has some blame in it (at least in the US - where I live you're labeled incompetent if you mention creationism). Everyone seems so scared of getting sued for not mentioning opposing opinions that they always seem to let everybody and his dog tell their version of what happened. xp
