The Economy - Is the US going Bankrupt?
We've all seen the headlines lately (unless you only read news related to Britney) about this or that bank collapsing, Freddie and Fannie being nationalized, the dollar being weak and people who can't afford to have a roof over their head. The once strong US economy is going down.
Meanwhile, we have a war eating away at state finances. Oil and food cost a lot more than we're used to and minimum wages are still too low.
Discuss:
Is the US going bankrupt?
If so - Who do you think is to blame and why?
Is the system flawed? Which system would be better to use?
And...
Is your own economy worse than ten years ago?

The problem, as I see it, is that the people who made this mess are all too detached from the people who will be paying to clean it up. People do what I've learned Americans do best and cover their own behinds rather than thinking about how their actions will affect other people.
Nationalizing large financial institutes is really just putting a band aid on a severed limb. You stop the worst bleeding but you don't fix the underlying problem.
