Katherdante
Vice Captain

&&&&A woman was walking through the misty tree trunks that glittered in the frosty morning air. This forest near her home was unusual, all the plant-life were like delicate crystals. That morning something inside of her sensed she should leave the usual trail, so she did. After a few moments of walking through the well spaced trees she saw a hillock out of the corner of her eye. Imbedded within the hillock she caught sight of what looked like a cave opening. Her wings tucked neatly behind her back as she approached the opening. The right wing a glorious gold with a faintly different aura than the rest of her, and her left a pure white. A faint white glow surrounding her became more visible as she stepped out of the sun lit forest and into the mid-tone lit cave. She lifted her long golden hair so that it would clear the floor as she ducked inside. It glittered along with her aura, though there was no apparent light source. This did not surprise her in the least, as she is the goddess of light and creation.

&&&&Relief showed on her face as she only had to remain in a ducked position for a few steps; for once inside the cave abruptly expanded outward into a large cavern. Suddenly she realized this cave was very much like her; it too had a mysterious and powerful aura of similar properties. As she moved inside of the cave it seemed to brighten and reflect her as a light source, everything inside became clearly visible to her. There was a beautiful clear pool of water. A sense of purity swept over her; this was no ordinary pond. In a bemused manner she wondered if this was where her unicorn familure spent most of it's time. As a being of purity, like herself, he would be attracted to a place like this.

&&&&She stood still and gazed about at the beautiful scene. A small, delicate looking, waterfall spilled into the virgin water from an unknown source. The pool was perfectly clear, almost glowing and reflected just as a pool would. She then noticed the small, delicate and semi translucent white and silver fish that were slowly swimming about inside of the water. As she moved closer to the water's edge there was a tiny rumble from the pool. Stepping back a pace in surprise she watched as pure white, perfectly round stepping stones emerged from the water. They were equally shaped and spaced perfectly to allow for an easy stroll across them, but to where? As the last one rose from the water a much larger slab emerged at exactly the center of the pool and from the white slab's middle section rose an even higher section; forming a pillar that rose exactly to the center of her body.

&&&&Slowly and with a sense of ceremony she delicately stepped onto the first stepping stone. Though they were perfectly smooth and had just been covered in water, they were devoid of moss and moisture. As she cautiously stepped to the next one she realized that somehow they also allowed a sufficient amount of traction. As she neared the center, and largest stone she felt increasingly drawn to the alter that stood upon it. Finally stepping onto the center stone she felt the source of this caves purity and essence.

&&&&As she took the last few steps to the alter a rune in it's center began to glow brightly. She felt an echo of it's power and intention inside of herself. Gently she floated up as her power and it's intermingled. Its presence resonated inside her mind and heart. They knew each other, this stone was related to her, it's power source the same as hers. It was like meeting a friend from your childhood again and realizing a closer connection.

&&&&Inside her mind she suddenly heard her name, "Katherdante". Slowly, as her feet again touched the stable white stone her eyes opened and she saw that something had appeared upon the alter. It was a small ball with nearly transparent wings. The wings slowly started to flap; though they looked damp at first the movement quickly dried them out. Soon the little winged ball fluttered into the air and seemed to be looking at her.

&&&&Holding out her hands the little creature landed upon her open palms. It started resonating with her, softly glowing. She stared in wonderment at it for sometime. It was so delicate, but warm in her hands. In a bit of a daze she left the mysterious cave and started on her way home with the new treasure.

&&&&It remained calm enough on the relatively short walk home, but as she reached the castle it began to squirm. Not sure what this meant she held it gently, but firmly in her hands as she approached her home. The castle was made out of crystal that resonated with the forest; both interacted with the sun in a dazzling display of light and color. The castle was also surrounded by a moat, of perfectly clear and pure water, water of similar quality to that which she had found in the cave.

&&&&As she neared the bridge stones, Katherdante spoke a few strange words and a bridge slowly descended to allow her access inside. The heels of her shoes made a tapping sound against the crystal of the bridge. The stirring of the creature grew more urgent, so she picked up the pace as she made her way through the courtyard. Servants looked on with interest as she passed, for she usually did not tread faster than her usual rate. She slowed to open the to the large kitchen. A few workers bustled out of her way as she entered.

&&&&The ball was making strange whirling noises. She cafefully peeked through her fingers to look at it. It seemed to be trying to rub itself against her hand. It also seemed to have a protective covering hindering it's movement. She decided that it was asking to be cleaned off. Delicately she placed the little creature on one of the kitchen's many sinks and ran a trickle of warm water into it.

&&&&All the sudden, the ball came to a sudden life. It started fluttering about in a panic. It made excited whirling noises with its wings, and starting flying about the room at breakneck speed. Katherdante watched in a shocked manner. Before she had a chance to even attempt to capture it again, the creature knocked over several small china dishes. "What a destructive little thing!" It won't feel better until I get that shell off of it." She thought to herself.

&&&&Katherdante ran after the creature, and after several more crashes of most likely irreplaceable items she caught it. Holding it firmly between her thumb and index finger she ran a towel under the hot water and gently dabbed the orb clean. It seemed to enjoy this very much, and seemed very disappointed when she finally stopped. She sat down and analysed the creature. Suddenly she realized that the substance it was made of seemed to be a metal. Pulling open a drawer she began to rummage thorugh it to find some polish to rub off the tarnish still covering it's tiny form. She slowly dabbed the towel in the polish and made short circle motions around the creature's body to evenly rub it with the polish. As she rubbed she glanced at her wedding ring. She suddenly realized that it was the same material as this creature's body. "You are platinum, I shall call you Platine, that is platinum in Latin." Platinum fluttered her now clean wings with pleasure and shined brightly now that she was polished.

&&&&Katherdante soon realized that most of the day had gone by. The little orb had begun fluttering with significantly diminished fever, so she carried platinum up to her room to put her to bed. She sighed as she opened, and then closed the door to her room, wishing she could show the little curiosity to her husband. Unfortunately he was going to be gone for some time. She picked up a red and soft velvet pillow from the sofa lounge and placed it upon her nightstand and then gently laid Platine upon it. She sat on her bed, next to platinum and watched the little creature fall asleep. She wondered for a moment why she could tell Platine was a female, but of course she usually was able to since this sort of thing so it was not overly unusual.

&&&&Katherdante went back down stairs and had a leisurely dinner... alone. Coming back up to her room she was nervous as she approached and opened the door to her bedroom; worried that maybe platinum had left. She was relieved when she saw the little orb glittering upon the cushion where she had left it. Katherdante prepared for sleep and then climbed into her huge, comfortable, empty bed. For some time she watched the little orb sleep, before she did so herself.
