Most people simply call it The Ruins, but giving it a name gives it a sense of historical value, which in this case is true. Long time ago, during the time where there were only two factions. These ruins were created as a stronghold for the Dark Knights. Being along the borders of the Crimson forest and Sky Reach Mountain made it an almost perfect defensive point. But the Holy Knights wished to claim the fort as their own. Through many years of hard fought battles for Xedillian both the Dark Knights and Holy knights simply abandoned the newly created ruins. Nobody knows why or how it happened, but now it is mostly used for sightseeing or sometimes a place to sleep.

It is rumored that deep within the underground belly of Xedillian that the Dark Knights stored their valuables in the deepest parts of the fort. During their abandonment of the fort, they left a powerful weapon for anyone to claim. Nobody knows what it looks like, what power it gave to the user, or even if it existed, but many have tried to traverse the fort, but none of them have returned. Beware, if you dare traverse the ruins of Xedillian for yourself, you are destined to face countless numbers of unique traps, dead ends, and even difficult puzzles to unlock the way to the treasure keep. It may take days, even weeks to go through the fort, but nobody has ever come back to tell the tale.

Pale, cloth covered legs swung freely down from the highest arch of the ruins. Captain Neciel of the Dawn Striders perched high above the ground in The Ruins, looking extremely peeved. She was scouring the area for the weapon of extreme power, which was rumored to be placed here, in Xedilian. Sighing, she swiped the hair from her eyes, the snowy locks having blown into her face with the breeze picking up.

A warning? Maybe. The wind whistled, almost sounding angry with her intrusion to the Ancient battle ground. She ignored it, believing it her right as the Tyrant Lord's daughter to roam the old Dark Fortress. Or rather, what was left of it. Sensing someone coming, she slowly glided down the hundred or so feet from her perch on the arch, glancing around conspicuously.

Ephraim had wanted to go to a place for a while. It was a calm place; a peaceful, serene place. Sure, it had been meant for the entire opposite, but what it was now was the poster-child for quiet. He had come there before when his parents had been alive. Bless their souls, they could not come back again.

Smelling the freshness of the air, the purity of silence, he ventured forth hence from the said place’s entrance. Xedillian, an epithet for tragedy, yet a world of peace. It was like what his mother used to always say: “Through the darkness comes the light, neither can live without the other. If one were present, but the other was not… both would be words without meaning, for there would be no difference.”

He sighed, this nostalgia was a pleasant respite from the area, but he had come here to escape his pleasures and pains. The Doric columns and architraves adorning the architecture brought about an ambiance of tranquility. The ponds of cleanliness washed his face from his past sins. My, what a beautiful scene he looked at. A place, if still alive—for now dead—that would have been fit for any emperor, any god, existed in front of his profile.

Greenery glazed the stone floors beneath him; a moss of verdant origins underneath the boots that clicked over them. It was humid, though there was not heat. A moisture garnished everything, giving life to those that seek it, giving home to those that could.

As Ephraim’s eyes scoped the pleasant montage of pleasance, he took the moisture and gathered it around himself. Astonishing was the amount that he could bring about! Such greenery could only live in such conditions. This place was truly … perfect.

As Ephraim let the captured moisture free to frolic into the air, he eyed someone as they ventured to hide. He could only catch a glimpse, but a glimpse was far more than enough to recognize this person of fame a little ways away from his person.

He walked casually, not wanting to disturb anything in the delicate ecosystem developed in the place, or wanting to disturb anyone else that might—or might not—have been hiding a just a tad feet away from him.

Then something caught his guard. This woman hadn’t been hiding, nor had she been wanting to hide. In fact, she had simply glided down and landed in a place that seemed to make her feel as such; however, it was obvious that someone of her stature knew that he was here.

As she looked at her surroundings, Ephraim could only do so much as irritate her… if even a little. He hid behind a column, and used his air manipulative skills to slowly create a hand that would creep, and creep, and creep stealthily towards her, tapping her shoulder. If she saw it, it would disappear, and she would never know who did it, for that person would just happen to be hiding. When she’d turn back around to look at the other side, another tapping would occur. A melodiously, beautifully, irritating game that might just be a tad fun. Faction leaders needed to have fun too, did they not? After such hard work, they would have to have some fun! If they didn’t, then Ephraim would just have to teach them just how fun, fun could be.

The knight present didn't seem to be a threat, nor of any significance. Ignoring the man for now, the Captain landed lightly on her feet. The broken stone floor beneath her feet didn't seem to bother her, practically gliding over the ground. Feeling the light tap at her shoulder, she turned, expectant.

Nothing.

Raising an eyebrow, Neciel turned to move forward again. The presence nearby hadn't seemed to move, and she merely shrugged it off. Before she felt another tap, on her left shoulder this time. She whipped around, growing rather annoyed with the game already.

Still no one.

Sucking in a deep breath, the lady-captain shot out her hand, a burst of navy flame spiraling towards where the Holy Knight hid. "Your sense of humor is lacking, I'm afraid." she sighed, shaking her head lightly. She raised her hand for another blast of flames when...

There was another tap on her shoulder.

Whipping around, Captain Neciel launched the built up flames fly in the direction where she had been tapped. Keeping her face under careful control, she nodded in relief when the flames hit a crumbling rock wall, leaving behind only a strangely colored singe mark.

"What are you doing here, Holy Knight?"

After a long travel from the Cliff of Suicide, Ace finally made it to Xedillian. Ace's foot felt a lot better after walking for awhile, he was right about walking the sprain off.
"Well that took longer than I thought it would... but at least we got here, right? I guess I'll do what I do best and build a fireplace" He told Gabrielle and went over to some nearby trees to tear up some wood to burn.
"You think anybody else will be here, Gabrielle?" Ace asked her to get her opinion of the situation.

PostPosted: Sun Jul 13, 2008 1:59 pm

Gabrielle had followed Ace during the travel, keeping quiet. She had not found the flower she was looking for. But she knew she had a hope in the Ruins.

When they reached the Ruins and he offered to do some fire, she nodded and looked around. Then she sat next to the fire place he was building. "I do not know,...Ace." she answered slowly. The place seemed to have been unused for decades. She was reflecting further when she heard noises or maybe a voice, which were of human or at least human looking creatures. She raised all at once, Aqual quickly in her hand.

"I think that answers your question...Ace."

Ephraim smiled in idiocy; she didn’t seem to be having fun at all. Heh, this game was fun for Ephraim. But, maybe he should have considered that maybe she would not have like a complete stranger touching her, if even with magic.

He couldn’t help but look at the scenery while he did so. He wanted to sink everything in. The beauty was splendiferous. For something of such accord, Ephraim’s revisit to this place just made everything seem right in the world.

Ephraim’s stature became lax with every stoke he groped the Lady’s shoulder with. He did not want to become caught, after all. He, however, had not taken in the aspect of his wings not being able to hide. So, it was obvious that she would have caught his little prank.

Nevertheless, he showed himself. To not obey the command of one of such stature was nothing less than sin, if not suicide. Nevertheless, he took a step into the limelight when she spoke to him, hence, with his right hand on the back of his flowing hair.
“I should have expected that thou shalt find me. Terribly sorry, my Lady. My humour is for children, alas. I shouldn’t have done such a stunt. You just seemed quite serious sitting morosely whence thou wert sitting.”

He then kneeled in respect, looking down. “Please forgive this childish attempt of mine. It shan’t happen again.

“To answer thy question, I am here for simply my own pleasure. I had not come here since my deceased parents had brought me here in my grade school years.” Ephraim then smiled. “Bless their souls. I simply love the ambiance. And yourself—” Then Ephraim heard conversing biped voices “ Do you hear some people, my Lady?”

Naturally, he had not expected adventurers in this place. Who could they be? Mercenaries apt on killing the Dawn Striders’ leader? “Brace thyself, my Lady… these people may be mercenaries.”

He would protect her undoubtedly.

Ace pulled his thumb back and pointed his finger at the fire like a gun and fired a flame into the wood where it then quickly began burning the fire.
"There we go..." Ace laughed and then listened in on the sounds Gabrielle was mentioning.
"It does answer my question. Who could it be, maybe something I could take this bottled up bull I've had to deal with." He said referring to his anger from spraining his ankle earlier.
"Whatever. Well, the fire's made, and this is a cozy little corner of ruins to be camping out in, if they want to come fight us they got it." Ace said sitting snugly between the burning wood and a wall of ruins. He tilted his hat down and tried to get a quick nap before intruded on by strangers.

Gabrielle was a little taken offguard by how relax Ace was. She liked his laugh though and his spirit. But she did not like knowing that someone else was around when she did not know who. She glanced at him. The night was now dark, it must have been around ten. They had walked a lot to reach these ruins and were tired. But she could not decide herself into relaxing and taking a nap, as cosy as the fire looked. Without a word she stepped away, walking towards the direction of the voices.

A wall was separating her from the noises and she quickly escalated it. She was not trying to hide and just stood up all at once, looking down towards...the Leader of the Dawn faction and...a winged man. She stared at them. The leader was as beautiful as representation she had seen of her. The man seemed strange. He did not look like a Dawn man but seemed positioned as if he was to protect the leader. Her right hand on her katana she looked at both of them. She knew that with her dark hair and clothes and her pale skin she looked more like a darkness creature than a Holy Knight. She waited for any of them to move.

"Your apology is accepted, knight. Your explanation shall suffice." she smiled, restraining the grin threatening to break out over her features. She had been under quite a bit of pressure lately. Maybe relaxing was a good thing.

"I apologize for the loss of your parents, but they have moved on to somewhere without quarrel." she nodded decisively, and moved her hand to her sword.

Of course she'd heard the people nearby! Surrounded by Holy Knights she was. Not exactly enemies, but Neo had never been quite made the alliance. Personally, she'd prefer to be surrounded by Dark Knights, those who wouldn't dare touch her without risk being burnt to a crisp by her father.

"One seems a bit too curious for their own good." she sighed, drawing her sword about an inch.

Ace awoke from his short nap and rose from where he slept.
"What they haven't shown themselves yet, fine I'll show myself. It's not like they can kill me or anything..." Ace said as he went around the stoe that kept them hidden. The last people he would have expected. A knight along with the leader of the Dawn Striders.
"Woah.... didn't see this one coming" Ace said keeping his ands in his pockets.
"What's going on here, a little sightseeing?" Ace asked approaching the two of them. They probably didn't know he was a Holy Knight by a glance. He looked more life a bandit, or rather a grave robber judging by the location.

PostPosted: Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:01 pm

When Ace appeared at her side she smirked. The both of them made quite a pair, both looking like everything but Holy Knights. When the Leader drew her sword a little Gabrielle did not move, her hand still an the pommel she was staring at her and at the winged Knight. She still did not understand why the man was facing them instead of the Dawn Leader. She stayed quiet. Staring.

She did not want to fight. She knew perfectly well that even if they were three Holy Knights, it would take more than that to kill the Dawn Leader. The fight would be a suicide and she was no fool.

"You could say that." Neciel replied, replacing her sword in it's sheath. Three third class Holy Knights would not require her sword, though whether or not the other two looked like Holy Knights, the woman knew. There's not much one can hide from one who'd mastered the elements, and a natural psychic. Her ability was not in mind reading, but aura reading. The three knights before her had a golden string lacing through their aura, one only present as a Holy Knight.

"And I ask you of your purpose here?" she asked, gazing at the strange man. looking the least like a Holy Knight of the bunch. Though the it was phrased as a question, it was more of a command than anything else. The Holy Knights were free to range more so than others, for Neo never really showed himself to any. For all the Dawn Strider Captain knew, these two new arrivals could be renegades. But it didn't seem to be that at all from what she picked up from their auras.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:40 pm

It was obvious that the Dawn Leader was addressing to Ace and not to her, therefore Gabrielle stayed quiet, watching the exchange. She moved her hand away from her sword and sat on the wall where she was standing. It seemed that no one really wanted a fight and she was quite tired. The walk from the Cliffs had been long and tiring.

She found the coincidence quite unique. She had gone to the Cliffs to find a plant, and obviously had not found it. But the monk has mentioned that he could not remember from the Cliffs or the Ruins where the plant really was. And here she was, following Ace to the Ruins. It looks like for once I've been lucky... she smirked. Luck had never really be on her side, therefore she was ready for something to happen at any time.

"I would say it's quite an honor to be meeting the Dawn Strider leader, but then again it's such unwanted circumstances for me." Ace began.
"We were just finding a place to camp for the night, maybe even venture into the Ruins of Xedillian and attempt to gain that Dark Knight treasure in it's belly. but to meet A Legendary person such as yourself has caught me off guard." He said in a praising manner, but more of a way to show his respect.
"I wonder how renowned I would be if I were to defeat a person of your caliber? I would definitely be taking your place as Legendary that's for sure" He said obviously implying a threat to fight. He was almost asking to kill himself, but he was simply just simply thinking out loud.
