We all got stories behind our gameplay, so why not share em' with each other? If you have personal stories behind Silent Hill, preach on!
When I first heard of Silent Hill, I was in the 5th grade. I was spending the night at a friend's house and we were bored. He pulled out a demo disc and put it in his ps2. At the bottom of the screen I saw Silent Hill 4. I asked him what that was, he told me, "That is one of the scariest games I have ever played. I don't even try to play the demo." So of course, I chose it. *I'm only human!* It was fun, till i got to the subway world. I was petrified by fear, and I didn't understand you couldn't kill ghosts. So after wasting 2 or 3 clips, breaking a bottle of wine over it's head, and repeatedly shoveling it in the face, I guess I reached my peak. Me and my friend just started saying random stuff and songs to try to keep our "happy" spirits up. It failed..... and I was freaked out for three months after that, constantly watching my walls for ghosts to come through. Now the only thing that startles me in Silent HIll 4 is turning around, nothing there, turning around again and a ghost or monster is 2 inches from my face.

I don't remember when i first heard of silent hill. I guess in away Silent Hill has always been apart of me. I remember the first time I played it though. I started with Silent Hill 4. I got to the subway level the first time and gave up. I couldn't get Cynthia and I out of the subway to the turnstile.
I remember so much time trying to find out how to do it that i just gave up. Finally, I saw the movie. I loved it. Nothing like silent hill 4. No weird ghosts. Darkness everywhere. Weird stuff.
At first I was disappointed that it didn't follow the first game (though I didn't play it) but I understood why. After teh movie I moved on to Silent Hill 3. I got all the way to the hospital before my rental store was screaming at me to bring it back.
Then I downloaded Silent Hill 2 for the PC. It was a bit harder than I was accustomed to due to the use of keys instead of the controller I had so gotten used to. I managed to beat it. The puzzles were driving me crazy and the fear was getting to me so much i eventually had to break down and get a strategy guide.
Since I have tried to play every game. Im working on getting Origins and I am waiting for Homecoming this September. I still can't get my hands on teh original. Its not enough watching it I want to experience the game first hand.

When I first heard of Silent Hill I actually had my best friend living with my family and I. She had brought her X-Box over and popped in a game I had never heard of, Silent Hill 2. She said "OMG Ronni this game is scary. Itll scare the sh*t outta you." I thought umm yeah sure whatever. She told me she would get me started on my own game. So of course I started playing. I remember being stuck inside these apartments. I kept on running around because I didn't know what I was doing. Finally I reached this door that I could open. When I walked inside I noticed a maniquen in the middle of the room. I looked at Amanda and asked her "Is anything going to pop out?" She looked at me and said "Nah you just need to get something from that maniquen." So of course I believed her and ran up to it. When I grabbed the flash light this thing with nothing but legs popped out. I screamed so loud because it scared me. She started laughing at me and said "Gotcha!" Then my dad opened the door and said "Whats going on in there?" We started laughing and she told him that I got scared cause something popped out. I have my best friend Amanda to thank for getting me hooked. cool

The movie was my first official exposure. sweatdrop
When Rose fainted after being attacked by those burning... babies (xD) and woke up in the bowling alley with Jonny Cash's Ring of Fire playing, I cracked up.
Then, when the armless tar-spitting monster first appeared.... I have to admit that I cracked up again. _xD Mostly because that looked like the most dysfuntional monster I had ever seen (what could it possible even kill you with?!!?! XD). When it started spewing tar, I could only think: "System Failure!"
XDDDD I couldn't stop laughing..... That's what actually got me to love this game. The sheer amusement I can obtain from it. x3 Granted, there's some scaaary scary shyte in Silent Hill. But I also love the hypothetical situation of being trapped in a monster infested ghost town. When I'm feeling down or frusterated, I take a stroll through Silent Hill. heart I love the fog, there. xB
When the leg monster popped up from behing the maniquen, that spooked me too. xD

The first game I was exposed to was when I was nine years ago. This one twerp came over with his Playstation and played Silent Hill 1. It scared me, and I strangely became fascinated.
In my opinion, the scariest part of Silent Hill 2 is before the rape scene. Just PH standing in front of you, even though he cant do anything to you.
I laughed as Alessa danced in the raining vaginal blood as the priest was raped by razorwire in the movie. Everyone in the theater stared at me in shock. I enjoyed it.

The first time I heard of Silent Hill was when I was 11 years old (I am now 18 and proud of it! ahem anyway) and I visited a friends house. The game had just been released and she had bought it maybe a week after it did and she was so excited to show it to me.
Well I played it for a little bit but I think she got frustrated with me and I was having the hardest time beating the crap out of the monsters so I turned the controls over to her and sat back and enjoyed myself watching her play.
It was from that day on that I fell totally and completely in love with SH and everything that went along with it!
