If anything, Meta Knight would be the recoloration of Kirby, since Kirby came first.

True that. First, Sakurai makes Kirby. The world was blessed. Then Sakurai makes a mistake [Meta Knight.] Then the blessing blows the mask off of the mistake to reveal a recoloured wanna-be. DeDeDe continues to rule Dreamland. All is at peace.
 Of course, the mistake comes back later, but Kirby kicks his a** good.
