I was introduced to Pokemon from my oldest sister. It was around Fall of 1997, and my sister took me on a ride to her ex boyfriend's brother's store. Hanging off her rear view mirror was a Pikachu (I didn't know what it was at the time), and I asked her what was that. She vaguely explained that it's a Pokemon. I've never heard of it, so I just said, "Oh." We arrived at the guy's store and it was packed with Japanese imports. To make it shorter, I saw the counter and it was covered in more monsters. The guy explained more about Pokemon and the other monsters in words I did not know (It was their Japanese names). I wanted to know more, but I didn't know how. All I had to remember was a small Pikachu action figure my sister gave me.
That's really the story how I was introduced to it. A year later, Pokemon hit TV at 6am (in my city) and I became addicted to it and learned even more about Pokemon. I even have my sister's Japanese and American Pokemon products, and her recordings from the first season of Pokemon.
*puts on his cap and starts singing* I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was. Da da dum! To catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause... *walks off to the sun humming*

Came home from school one afternoon, went to the rec room to watch TV. Flipped through some channels and found Pokemon. It looked anime-ish and caught my attention. It was the episode "Case of the K-9 Caper" and I absolutely adored the Growlithe (and that episode they don't even give you a hint that they are Fire-types). I do remember wondering why the cat was talking and none of the other creatures were... but after that I watched the show for about a week before one of my friends lent me his Red version for the weekend. Hook, line, sinker. cool

Don't remember for sure but it looked like fun. Whenever there's a big trend/phenomenon I usually take a peek just to see what the fuss was about, and it turns out that I rather enjoyed the games.

The cards were at school and I happened to get my hands on one of them somehow. Eventually the cards were banned at school, and somehow I found the show. I didn't get my first game until G/S/C... crying

I was first introdused to pokemon when it came out. I was watching the first episode, "I Choose You Pikachu", and I knew that I would love it. Ever since I have tried to collect everything about it. Even things from Japan. domokun

I have to play the ROM version of Pokemon Gold since the battery of the original version died... along with all the Pokemon I had. crying

It was when I was in first grade. I woke up one morning in the summer and I turned on the TV and Pokemon was on. It was the S.S. Anne episode. It's still my favorite out of every single episode.

My favorite has the be the one where Ash and Pikachu almost split up when Pikachu found other Pikachu.
I'm still wondering if the episode when they crashed on the island (after S.S. Anne) or if it was the one when Ash was battling Brock. Those were two of few episodes I remember the most and one has to be the first one I've seen. sweatdrop

In either '97 or '98 I got into Pokemon. It was when KFC was handing out one of four Pokemon plushies with the meals if you asked for one. The first time, my mom came home with a Zubat. I loved it!! The next time she went, I asked for her to get the fox *didn't know what it was called then, but it turned out to be Eevee*. They were out, and my second Pokemon ever was Dratini! Or as I dubbed them, Batty and Snakey!
After that, I got Pokemon Red, and I've been hooked ever since. So that makes it......about 11 years I've been into Pokemon.
I'm 17, considered a PokeVetran, and I still love them all!! heart

10 years ago, in 1998 when R/B had released in America. I saw it on the store shelf and asked my Mom for it. That was the start of it. When I got home I did my homework, grabbed my Game Boy, and started playing.
What's really disturbing (to my parents at least) is that I'm 15 and know just about everything concerning pokemon (DVs and IVs excepted). I never really liked the anime though: they kept using places that weren't in the games (which I saw as official canon) and always used the same character with different cookie cutter ladies thrown in. I stopped watching completely when Johto started, and have been a game purist ever since. cool

It was sometime in '98. My schoolmate had Pokemon Red and urged me to get it. I went to the store and saw there were two versions, Red and Blue. I decided to get Blue since she had Red, and I've been hooked ever since! smile
She also got me into the show. I always had a soft spot for Team Rocket. whee
