Why Do I Write? v.1
What is it that inspires me to write?
To put pen to pad,
So late at night,
Basking in the glow,
Of a single candles light,
My quill moves quickly,
As I recite,
These Lines, These words,
Which incite,
A deeper understanding,
Of my minds fight,
Is it emotion?
Translated to ink,
Thoughts put in motion,
For one afraid to think,
A nightly devotion,
With my soul,
Or is it in the absence of commotion,
That my mind soars,
Is it you that inspires my work?
The little muse,
That leaves me to lurk,
Long nights on a blissful high.

Nicely done. A bit shorter than the other poems you've posted, but that's not a criticism, just an observation.
I've had those "wake up at 3 in the morning and must write" moments too. 3nodding

I know...it irritated me that it was so short and I never thought of it as finished...hence the reason it sat on my desk for such a long time just taunting me...but I needed to turn in a few poems for my final grade in creative writing and without thinking I snatched this one...the poem got top honors in the class and when the instructor read it out loud he made it sound finished...So now it is, at least for the time being >.<

Sweetness! I wouldn't worry about the length. hell, it's longer than a haiku and doesn't begin with "Roses are red..." or "There once was a man from Peru...". So it's all good.
