Aiden wandered through the courtyard a bit reluctantly. She had spent a considerable portion of her life aboard a merchant ship, surrounded by sleek architecture and machinery. The excessive foliage found at the temple provided a substantial contrast to the surroundings of her past. Not to mention, the vibrant flowers nestled in and among the vegetation had this irritating tendency of attracting unwelcomed beings. Aiden swatted the air in front of her face as one such insectoid beings buzzed by. The air around her was filled with these tiny pests... With a frown and another irrated sweeping motion, the Nagai child continued down the main stone path. Her destination was the center fountain. Though she was not traveling there by choice, but rather in obligation of fulfilling the second training lesson. She was suppose to meet another student here, the Theelin female Maki. They had agreed to meet at the center fountain in order to work on the second lesson.
After arriving at a large fountain, Aiden immediately realized she had been the first of the pair to arrive. The nagai child slowly pulled herself up and sat on the edge fountain. There seemed to be less insects buzzing about the fountain which made her quite content. At the very least, it would make the wait for Maki considerably more bearable.

Leaving her chamber, Maki was quite surprised by the amount of sunlight in the hallways. It was a little harsh on the theelin girl’s eyes, but after a few moments her eyes were fully adjusted and at ease. Walking threw the hallways reminded her of how beautiful the temples, and the courtyard really were. The architecture had a softness, very different from the home that she remembered. So, that brought her mood up into very bright and cheerful standards. Her face was lit in a bright smile, as she turned the corner and entered the courtyard area.
Beauty was an understatement. Everything seemed to shine with unnatural grace and seemed to brighten the girl’s mood. Now if she could only figure out where Aiden was sitting at, then everything would be quite a bit easier. Although Maki was slightly scared of Aiden, she knew that it was very important to finish this lesson. After all, the short Mister told them to do this. And he was scary mad, so she didn’t want to get him mad at her.
Looking around, her eyes noticed the pale skin of Aiden and the dark hair that was a few feet away from her. Bringing a bright smile on her face, Maki started over to where the girl was standing. As she approached her, Maki did a small bow before she spoke. ”Ah, I’ma sorry that I’ma late. Hopefully you’sa weren’t waiting here to long.” She said, bowing one more time as she looked up at the Aiden’s silver eyes. ”Shall we began?” She asked, keeping as positive as she could.

"I just got here" Aiden replied, quickly jumping up as the theelin girl approached with a bow. Though her face did not show it, Aiden tried desparately to push away the sudden nervousness that was building in her gut. She coiled and uncoiled her toes within her boots as she was realizing just how akward this situation could quickly become.
"Shall we begin?" The Theelin girl asked, prompting Aiden for an answer.
"That would make sense." Aiden responded shortly... As an after thought she briefly considered the shortness of her answer and its implication on Maki's opinion of her. Well... she's already decided what to think of me so it's too late for first impressions. Aiden chided herself as she made eye contact with the other youngling in front of her. The Theelin girl was in fact not her first choice for a partner... she would have preferred working with one of her fellow jedi students, but she was conscious of the fact that her popularity was limited. Considering this, she should be happy that she found a partner at all. With a final scrunch of her toes, Aiden final took a seat on the stone path. She crossed her legs, took a deep breath, and waited expectantly for Maki to do the same.

Looking up, Maki nodded her head with a smile on her face. As long as she reminded happy, nothing bad could happen? Right? She was trying to believe that the best that she could, although it was more difficult than she wished. As she watched Aiden move and sit down on a few stones in the path, She hurried after her in a quick and clumsy movement. After all, she was sometime clumsy when she got nervous around other people. A slight problem.
“Ok.” She said softly as she moved to sit neatly on the path, and slightly in front of Aiden. She didn’t want to be too close to Aiden, since that would be getting into someone else’s business. So, she would try to keep out of ‘Aidens bubble’ so to say. Keeping her legs tucked lightly under her, she found it much more comfortable then having them crossed.
After that, she looked up to Aiden, not fully sure on what to do. They needed to try to get the feeling of the force, and have it build up between them. It shouldn’t be that hard, except the fact that they did things so very different than each other. Aiden was a future Jedi , and yet Maki was a future Sith. So, would they be able to gain balance between themselves? Maki really didn’t know.

Aiden watched the girl sit down just beyond her while her stomach gave another stubborn twist of nervousness. She had hoped that the Sith initiate would take charge and lead off with the lesson. That's what siths did, right? They were aggressive, arrogant, and always eager to take charge of any situation. As Aiden watched Maki's face for a few moments before reluctantly coming to the conclusion that this particular Sith wasn't conforming with her stereotype.
Aiden resorted to once again curling her toes within her soft boots to mask the nervousness she felt. She didn't want to admit that she did not know how to do the lesson. She also didn't want Maki to know how much she had struggled to attempt to sense the force in her own dorm room. How was she supposed to do that here? In front of a complete stranger, and a sith? How was she suppose to focus when she was distracted by the growing knot in her stomach?
"Well, the second lesson.". Aiden began in a low voice. She had hoped the lower quality would reduce the shakiness that she feared would creep into her speech. "The master's said to work together to access the force, feel it build between you'" Aiden recited the Masters' orders as had been recorded onto her datapad. She then glanced up at Maki. "I believe we should approach this as we did in the first lesson." Aiden began slowly, partly making up her suggestion as she went along. She really didn't know if she was interpreting the session correctly, but the Sith girl hadn't offered to take the initiative and Aiden wasn't willing to admit her own inability to do so. "One of us will start, then the other. We'll reach out just like we did in the first lesson, but we'll try to use the force to sense things here in the courtyard." Aiden paused for a moment, stalling to allow time to think of what to do next. "After we get into the rhythm we can try picking up a rock together or something." She leaned back slightly as she looked to Maki, trying to read her reaction to her suggestion and attempt at understanding the lesson.

Maki allowed herself to take a deep breath in, as she opened her eyes slowly. She did her very best to listen to what Aiden was saying, although at the moment she was more nervous about what all we going to be occurring. So the two of them would try to build the force between them and eventually try to pick up a rock or something. Although it sounded very easy, Maki was already getting nervous about it. Although she didn’t want to admit it, she was worried that Aiden would be able to master this very quickly and it would take Maki quite a while to just get the right consecration.
“Ok, That sounds fine with me’sa. Or we can both meditate and then attempt to move a stone while we are meditating.” She said softly, as she tried her best to speak in a normal tone and voice. But, that wasn’t very easy for her either. ”Do chu mind if I start us off?” She asked, although she was already closing her eyes to begin consitration. The first thing she needed to do was to relax, forget that she was siting here with someone that she didn’t like.
Ok.. Just relax Maki. Think about what you were thinking about earlier… About passion. she thought, as her head dropped a few more inches and she began to think much more on that subject. On how passion is able to change someone’s emotions. How it can make someone’s thoughts more easy and pleasant. Those were the things she was thinking, and she was slowly become more at peace. And feeling something a bit different than normal… The same thing from earlier, when she was alone.

"Go ahead." Aiden nodded noncommitedly, though she realized the girl had already continued without waiting for her response. Not that she minded, of course, she was more than willing to allow the Sith initiate to figure everything out first. Aiden was grateful that Maki's eyes were already shut, which allowed her to watch the other initiate intently. She was hopeful that by Maki going first it would give herself the chance to pick up a few pointers before her turn came around. Aiden waited patiently as the theelin girl slowly sank deeper and deeper into her meditative state. Several times, Aiden gave a half-hearted attempt to reaching out with the force-- curious to see if she could sense Maki's own presence. Yet when she was unsuccessfull, Aiden reluctantly decided to bide her time-- unwilling to somehow disturb Maki through her prying antics.

After a few moment of time passed, Maki opened one eye to look over at Aiden. She had done what Aiden had told her to do, but now she was quite bored and felt awkward. What all was she suppose to do now? She felt the force or something like it, but wasn’t she supposed to watch the other black haired girl now? Twisting in her seat, Maki cleared her thought and hoped that Aiden heard. “Um.. Your turn?” She said quietly, looking up yet again at Aiden and fumbled with her own thumbs. She was enjoying the fact that she did sense something, but now wanted to see if Aiden felt something. Most likely, Aiden would sense a lot more then Maki and make the girl become behind as always.

"Okay..." Aiden mumbled with a deep breath. She was unsure whether or not Maki had actually experienced anything for her expression beared no clues or indications. But it was her turn now, and she tried to force all other thoughts and distractions from her mind. Her eyelids sagged as she slowly re-entered a type of concentrated trance. She once again relied on the breathing technique she had learned long ago. The repetition of breaths helped her focus on something tangible in order to clear her mind of everything else.
After a few moments, Aiden slowly transitioned away from the breathing excersize. As her mind emptied, Aiden could instead turn her attention to the distant energy that surrounded her. Aiden squinted her eyes shut and her brow furrowed as she tried to concentrate on that energy. At first it resembled a type of distant mist that surrounded her and existed as far as she could sense. But as she concentrated she could feel this "mist" transforming into something more defined and more tangible in her mind. Suddenly she began to feel strange, as if she could actually feel the rythym of her beating heart instead of just hearing it. When she explored this feeling she noticed that unlike the emptiness she encountered in her dorm room, this area felt so alive and energetic. The force not only snaked around her as she had sensed during the first lesson, but now it seemed more like a web that was connected to her, to Maki, and even to the plants surrounding her. The Force seemed to shine and pulse with a fierce energy-- yet as she tried to reach out she noticed that each part of the web gave off a different intensity and type of energy.
Mentally, she imagined herself waded through the tangled network of the web before her. Beside her she could see the constant flicker in the force where she knew the plants and their inhabitants were located. And in front of her, she saw what she perceived to be a bright aura-- brighter than what surrounded her and brighter than the mere flicker she saw to her side. And yet this aura seemed more complex than just a shining glow of energy. It also pulsed independently, sending out small shockwaves through the web that she had attached herself to. With little reasoning, Aiden figured that this must represent Maki's presence in the Force. With this realization, she boldly tried something new. Visualizing the strands of the "force web" that connected her to Maki, Aiden envisioned giving a slight tug. She waited a moment before repeating the same action with more determination and concentration. Visually, she could see her action sending a ripple among the force web. She only wondered if Maki would be able to sense it as well.

Opening one eye, Maki felt herself soon enough watching Aiden with quite a bit of interest. Everything that the young girl was doing was so strange compared to how Maki meditated earlier. She seemed like a different person right now, and it was so strange. Although it was the very first time that Maki had really trained with anyone else, it was still really strange, but that could also be because Aidan was a Jedi not a sith. For some reason, Aiden felt so calm and peaceful that Maki couldn’t understand it. Opening up both eyes, the young girl looked blankly at Aiden without feeling bad for looking as Aiden was trying to meditate. Was Aiden having any luck? Or was she coming up blank? Maki really didn’t know, and once again was twirling a piece of hair between her fingers as she watched the other girl.
But after a few moments of staring like a fool, She decided to stop watching. How strange would it be if Aiden opened her eyes to see Maki starring at her? Instead, maybe she could try to feel what ever Aidan was doing. Although she didn’t know if it would work, it would be fun to at least try? Now wouldn’t it be?
Closing her own brown eyes, Maki took a deep breath as she sinked into the nature around her. For some reason it was different than earlier. Although her eyes were tightly closed, she could feel around her. Every person’s body, the animals, even the plants. She could just feel them, although it was so strange and alive. It was so strange, that Maki almost wanted to open her eyes and give up. That would be easiest, at least to Maki it would be. But, she couldn’t let herself run away from doing this. No, she needed to be brave and do her best. Keeping her eyes closed, she felt herself focus on Aiden and the area close by her.
With her eyes closed, she felt something a little bit strange. Like some was touching in front of her. No, It was like someone just waved their hand in front of her, although not touching her. That exact feeling, which caused chill to run up her spin. Although she thought it wasn’t real at first, soon enough it happened a few more times and then Maki understood that it was Aiden who was doing that. Keeping her eyes closed tightly, Maki attempted to do the same back. It was strange, since it was more like she was using the field around them, moving it to reach out to Aiden. Was this, the real force? Could that be what she was feeling?

Aiden's brow furrowed as she struggled to reach a new level of consciousness in the force. She worked to visualize a corresponding mental image to match the strange network of sensations that pulsed around her. Her web visualization became more clear and the life forms that it was connected to began to form more definate impressions. Beyond her, Maki's aura-like presence seemed to grow suddenly as the energy and intensity became stronger. Unsure whether or not this was related to Maki's actions or her own concentration, Aiden attempted to send another ripple in Maki's direction. She discovered, with considerable pleasure, that this "force rippling" ability was coming much more easily to her after the first several attempts.
She watched mentally as the ripple of energy streamed through the peice of the web that connected herself to her fellow student. To her great surprise, however, she saw Maki's own aura pulse and flicker. Seconds later she felt the Force crash over her and through her like a wave breaking on the Golden Beach of Coronet, Corellia. Startled at her own vulnerability, Aiden leaned backed as her concentration lapsed and fizzled. Her fragile connection with the Force had crumbled, leaving her blinking in a mix of excitement, confusion, and surprise.
Was that what the force truly felt like? Had she and Maki actually accomplished the objective of this lesson? Had she underestimated her skill and ability to grasp the force? Aiden's mind was now buzzing with questions that prevented her from returning to her same tranquil state. Realization further attempts in her current state would be fruitless, she conceeded and waited expectantly for Maki to return from her own concentrative state.
