Animation (noun)
An art form created by filming slightly variated drawings or models by so that they appear to move and change when played in sequence.
There is no defined art style, there is no defined writing prose, there is no defined production, there is no defined plot, there is no defined design; there is no defined anything for an animated work to be deemed as animation other then it must be a series of still images that when placed in sequence appear to move.
In America and Europe animation is commonly known as cartoons.
In Japan animation is known as anime.
In Germany its Zeichentrickfilm.
In Spain its animación.
In Russia, Мультипликация.
So on, so forth. Different languages, same artistic medium.
