Also, saying something like Wingardium Leviosa! sounds much more impressive than start hovering, dammit!, which has considerably less dramatic value.

I thought Draco-as-ferret was funny in the books. Haven't seen the GoF movie, so I don't know how it was handled there, but in the book...ah, good times. Draco Malfoy, the amazing bouncing ferret...

But I'm not looking forward to Snape's Worst Memory. As a dedicated MWPP fan, even I found that scene very uncomfortable.

Draco as a ferret was beautiful. It was music to my... eyes? I thought it was funny in the movie. I don't care what anyone else thought. It was a great scene. But, I also enjoyed the fourth movie, much to everyone's dislike. I think the only movie that I want to die in a fiery abyss is the third movie. It should be remade with a better looking werewolf. An actual werewolf. They made poor Moony look like an overgrown naked mole rat. T.T

I think you should watch the movie, though.

And, I'm not looking forward to Snape's Worst Memory, either. The Marauder era is my favourite era of the books. Unfortunately, I will probably be a pretty tough judge when it comes to that scene. That scene might decide if I like the movie or not.

You made me laugh out loud in the middle of Individuals and Families in a Diverse Society. And then I told Colleen, who is sitting next to me, and you made her laugh, too. Go you.

Finora Lupin
Because it makes them sound old and ancient. Anything said in Latin sounds old and ancient because latin is a very old language.

Odeo te, Interfice te Cochlerare!
(rough translation: I hate you, go kill yourself with a spoon)
Still, actual latin would be much cooler. Its the psuedo-latin that bugs me. Wingardium Leviosa has incompatible endings, a root (wingard-) that doesn't exist and it should all be in the imparitive.

It still sounds cool, though. And, I'm sorry, but I don't really want to die by spoon. Actually, I really don't want to die anytime soon...

Jeoc: Yes, but real Latin spells would be harder to write, wouldn't sound as dramatic if they all had compatible endings and wouldn't be as commonsensical. The think about pseudo-Latin is that you can take English words, change them around a little but still leave them intact enough that everyone can understand their meaning - for example, Lumos is obviously a light spell because most people would associate that with "luminescence" or "illumination", and Wingardium Leviosa is obviously a levitation spell (and the "wing" bit in "wingardium" emphasises that). I don't actually speak more than a few words of Latin, and I'm sure that's true of most people who read the Harry Potter books, but we all understand the spells because they're written in a slightly different version of a language we all understand.

That is why I am here - to think of things not thought of before.

You could totally be a Ravenclaw.

Indeed - it's my backup house. I was a SlytherClaw in "What Mix of the Hogwarts Houses are You?", remember?

Right... right... Slytherin was my back-up house. I don't see how I fit into Slytherin at all, though. o__. Er, I'm kind of ambitious... but I'm sure as hell not cunning... I don't think I am, anyway.

There are different kinds of cunning, Finora.
