alright heres one:
it just recently was released, uhm it has sardars, its about a dude who leaves his village in punjab to come get his cousin from australia, but his cousin ends up gettin paralysed, and he becomes the new man in charge...it's pretty easy, i'm sure the sardar part gave it away...

guess:
released in 2008, it's about a letter-writer who lives in a small village and obviously writes letters for a living. one day he meets his childhood friend who he's had a crush on ever since he was a kid. turns out she wants to write to her husband who lives in the city. the letter writer keeps writing fake letters and giving her fake replies. all in all it was a cute movie =)
