Where is she?
Kit knew Toro wouldn't have gone far - the other lioness absolutely loved this hill, and was constantly raving about how lucky she was to get the den before anyone else. Her scent was still around, though now it was mingled with two others - both males, one cheetah and one maned wolf. It seemed like an odd couple to be hanging around Toro, but they were male, and Toro had never really been that picky about species.
"Toroka?" she called, flicking her tail. She had so much news!

Kit's excitement had taken over the place of common sense, for even though it was late in the morning, Toro was dozing happily in her den. At the calls, she thought it might be Raja, but the voice was much too feminine - even for Raja. So, she yawned and pulled herself to her paws, padding to the mouth of the den to yell at whoever was waking her up.
"Hey," she called irritably. "I'm trying to sl..."
Was that who she thought it was?
"Kit?" she asked incredulously. "Is that really you?" She leapt forward without waiting for a reply, her brown eyes bright. "Look at you! You're all grown up!
"You are, too!" Kit said excitedly. "And guess what, Toro - I have a mate now! His name is Ashki, and we live in the Pridelands. He's so sweet and kind and sensitive... he's perfect! I can't believe I'm so lucky... oh, and my father let me go to the Pridelands! Well, I guess you assumed as much since we're living there, but..." She spoke rapidly as if she didn't have enough time to tell it all.
Toro supressed her excitement for her friend, instead putting on a bored expression. "A mate? Oh, good for you, Kit... I have a mate now too." Her eyes sparkled mischeviously as Kit stopped, surprised. "His name is Kidaraja and he lives here with me... oh, and he's a cheetah."
"You have a mate?" Kit sputtered. "Really? I mean, that's great! But I never expected you, the biggest flirt of all time, to settle down with someone! This Kidaraja must be pretty special, huh? And a cheetah! So, it's his scent that I can smell all around here? What about the maned wolf?"
"Rovo is the maned wolf - he's hanging around to keep us company and to help when the cubs get here. Oh, did I mention that we're going to have cubs soon? I'm not pregnant - yet - but it's only a matter of time." Toro's grin softened slightly. "I suppose that you and Ash will be parents as well? I always imagined you as the mothering type."
Kit blushed underneath her fur. "Well, uh, yeah, we will. I'm not pregnant either, but... it's a matter of time." She winked at Toro. "Ash'll be a great father. You know, our cubs will have to be friends, of course. It's a good thing we live fairly close to each other. I can't imagine them growing up without being close to my best friend's cubs!"

"Don't worry... if you fail to show up every few days with your cubs, and your amazingly fantastic mate, I will personally come hunt you down and drag you back here for a playdate. So you better watch yourself, Kit." Toro grinned and leapt forward, nipping at Kit's ears. "Because I know where you live!"
"And I know where you live," Kit retorted, diving to the side. "And you don't know anything about Ash, but I know what Raja smells like, and that he's a cheetah!"
"Oh, yes, and you're wild enough to take anyone but a lion as a mate!" Toro giggled, flicking her tail. "If Ashki turns out to be a leopard or something, I will give you my cubs. That's a promise."
"You must be pretty sure of yourself!" Kit laughed. "Although you are, of course, right. Ash is a lion, but the greatest lion ever." She grinned, batting at Toro with a paw playfully. "Speaking of how fabulous Ash is, I should go back. Alas, I am going through withdrawl, being away from him for an entire hour!"
Toro sneered teasingly. "You are pathetic and lovesick," she said, "and I love you all the more for it. Take care, Kit, and keep yourself active during the pregnancy! After all, you wouldn't want to lose your girlish figure, would you?" She stuck her tongue out.
"Oh, you're terrible, Toro," Kit said with a grin. "But same to you. Take care!" She padded up and pressed her nose happily against the brown lioness' cheek before turning and loping away.
