I didn't mean to make it sound like the low brass are completely worthless... personally I think Baritones have one of the coolest sounds in the band... Trombones (when played well) are bloody freaking awesome in jazz.. Without Tubas the Marching Band wouldn't have a strong base.. because mellophones don't have the ability to play in the lower registers.. period. So...*points to next paragraph*
Although they can be used as a substitute for a low brass instrument, Horns rarely have the type of tone quality in the lower registers that comes naturally to Baritones and Tubas.
So don't let me make you think that I think that playing a low brass isn't pretty cool.. I just get into word-spills.. >.>; As you can tell from the above rant. <.<;

My band director is very serious about the tuba's, we have three and it's a big deal if we dont tune down to them, not that you don't already, but the band depends on tuba's. you know that sound pyramid thing?
