Something about food? Sure! "The Jungle"- Upton Sinclair (REALLY SAD!) Read it for High school. "Fast Food Nation"- Eric Schlosser Will make you rethink what you eat, as well as the one above.
Something funny? "Dirty Job"- Christopher Moore (I suggest his other novels as well!) "Running With Scissors"- Augusten Burroughs (Crazy, makes you think. I also suggest his other novels.)
Other on my mind... "Wuthering Heights"- Emily Brontë (Her fist and only novel I think, but reading it now, and I am enjoying it. It is mentioned in Twilight.) "Twisted"- Laurie Halse Anderson (She also has another novel, "Speak") "The Book of Lost Things"- John Connolly A bit different, but makes you look at some Disney characters in a different light. "The Kite Runner"- Khaled Hosseini
Phew, a quite a bit, but they are all awesome, I kid you not.
