Althought KStars is a good app, its only for Linux[you'd have to change libs, or install x11 server onto windows to get it running].I recommend trying Cel, NightSky, and various other Desktop Planetarium programs.

I'm definitely thinking of trying Celestia in the near future. I know that it has many more features than the current program I use, called The Sky.
