One of the reasons I like Bleach it's because it's the first anime in which I found a character that resembles my personality in almost every way! 4laugh Guess who am I talking about? Arrg! That's impossible to decide! @.@ Well, at the top of the list is definitely Haibane Renmei. This anime is beautiful, its art, its story, its characters, its world, everything. I once had a large philosophical debate about it. I also like A Little Snowfairy Sugar.

yeah...she is cool but scary at the same time.. she has teh biggest bazookas i have ever seen on any anime charecrer. and i remember when i was watching and episode of bleach she said somthing about " the clevage of the gods" and i was all like WTH??? scream

Rumania I'd have to say Cowboy Bebop. It does an excellent job of getting you emotionally involved in the story. The music, storyline and characters all play out perfectly. The story is original and the characters are all brilliant and stand out from one another. Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Inu Yasha and other great anime series that tend to go on for a few hundred episodes are good but I often feel like the storyline gets so lost along the way that you lose that same attachment to the characters you had when you first started watching. With those series, after about 30 episodes, you're no longer worried about any of the main characters being killed off or leaving the main group forever. I love Bleach but [SPOILER WARNING!!!] after Ichigo finally saved Rukia, I really lost interest in the series. [/END SPOILER] Fullmetal Alchemist is a longer series that is really unique and wonderful because it keeps you thoroughly interested in the story. It builds up as it goes and finally has this big, wonderful ending you could never have predicted. All in all, it's a very original story with a fantastic cast of characters. So my picks for the Best Anime of All Time are: #1. Cowboy Bebop #2. Fullmetal Alchemist Yea Bleach had the same effect on me after the soul society arc. But my vote is for Neon Genis Evangelion because its so timeless and really deep i dont think Naurto will ever be THAT good i think its just like a DBZ fad in 10 years were all gonna laugh at ourselves for wearing the headbands

Romance: tie between NATSUIRO NO SUNADOKEI(hourglass of summer) KONO MINIKUKU MO UTSUKUSHII SEKAI(this ugly yet beatiful world) and DNAngel

karu_tenshi wow im surprised no one has said gundom wing cause that show use to be awsome hmm but the best one i think is .hack//sighns YESSS thank you wing rocks, Neon Genesis Evangelion a bit emo but if you pay attention to it you will love it, irresponsible captain taylor raelly good watch it now.

Sailor Moon. It got SO many people into Otaku-ness. Like me. If not for Sailor Moon, I bet at least half of the people that are Otaku WOULDN'T be otaku and would have no life. ^__^

I'm going to agree with FMA, but I'm surprised so many have been left out of the discussion.... sweatdrop Certainly in the running are Fushigi Yugi, or Outlaw Star, and do standalone movies count? 'Cuz Ghost in the Shell or Iria or any number of Miyazaki's movies would put up a good argument....
But FMA, IMO, still wins all the internets. 'Cuz let's face it, there's just not enough good steampunk out there! And alchemy! And also it's intelligent and intriguing and political. xd

I agree that it is impossible to decide. Mostly because anime is broken into so many genres now and there are more than any one person has ever watched. I can tell you my favorites for a given genre, but are they the best. I can't say and tomorrow something more bomb diggity will come out.
But for me the list looks a bit like this:
Shounen: Bleach, even though the filler has almost driven the life out of this series, the good parts are still really good.
Slice of Life: Azumanga Diaoh (though Strawberry Marshmallow is a close second.. along with Minami-Ke)
Historical/Drama: Rurouni Kenshin:Seisouhen (I wasn't much for the series but this is one of the most masterful works I've ever seen)
SciFi: Ghost in the Shell 2:Innocence is top right now, but Garden of Sinners Vol. 1-3 is pretty nice .. will wait to see the next 3 volumes before I pass final judgement.
Kids: My Neighbor Totoro .. you could make an arguement for Spirited Away but Totoro has a cat bus ... cant beat that.
