Welcome to Job Wars, where you get to argue about which job is best!

*Gameshow cheers*

Today we have:

Should a DRG use a Polearm or a Great Katana? Take into consideration the WSs and weapon damage.

how does Summoner relate to this again?

i can see RDM > < Bard since we're both Refresh B*tches... but SMN?

All three jobs fill in the same slot, Support. They all 'buff' the party. Bard has songs, RDM has spell such as refresh and SMN has avatars that cast buffs such as Garuda's blink or Ifrit's warcry.

As for which is best. They all are, it really depends on the situation. Party structure, where champ is held what kind of mobs the party is fighting.

Like if a party is War/Nin, War/nin, Monk/war, whm/smn, rng/nin...???

Who would fit best here?
Well two good blink tanks makes for a very bored whm as they can pass hate between blinking so mp really isn't an issue. So refresh really isn't all that high demand. With more combat buffs, a bard can really let this melee party shine. And the bored whm can throw in an avatar or two, while waitin to cure.

Thats just one example, but different situations call for different strategies which all work.

And thats not getting into the types of mobs. So to save a long rant and what not.

Player > Job

Now if you're talking one on one PvP.

Bard...HAHA. Bard w/o party is like a mage w/o MP.

Summoner. Their summons can hurt you, but only if you let them. Get pass the avatar and catch the summoner, one WS can one shot the majority of them.

RDM. Compared to the other two RDM comes out on top on PvP.

i don't know, i stand up pretty well on my own in a Ballista, granted it takes me 20 minutes to solo a person @_@

Utsu > Elegy > Sleep > Mambo x2 > Threnody for WS > Melee (Buffs wear) > Sleep > Rinse and Repeat from the top.

it's when people find out where i'm hiding, and the see "Naeo starts casting Horde Lullaby" everyone targets me, and rapes me D:

BRD > RDM
You can run out of MP but I'll never stop singing. wink lol jk
I also strongly believe it really depends on the PT set up and also entirely on the player. I've seen bad rdms and bad brds.

I think not what about refreash and covert, and before you say covert is too dangerous, i beleve rdm get blink and stoneskin...a good rdm can take out anybody that is good at their job...

I pretty sure people in balist pop posion pots to avoid sleep, and dame that will take a long time ><

My vote is rdm, they have all the tools necessary to go one on one and survive

Not in parties, just a three-way melee, I'd say Summoner.

The Summoner can get extra help from avatars in the battle, and possibly end up winning.

But, you know. If SMN dies, bye-bye Avatar, too.

Hey nice comments from everyone! This thread is more like a debate, but ill show my bias as well. *Evil laughs.*

PVP. BRD can't do too much due to the high cast time of their songs. Easily interrupted as well. Also, once sleep wears, a simple RDM silence has got them beat.

Also with SMN, all avatars can be slept. VERY easily with a sleep II.

In a PT, it should go like the following IMO.

Mostly Melee: RDM for enfeebs and high-quality refresh.
Mostly Mage: BRD for ballad and some enfeebs.
SMN is used best when there is either Mostly melee or when there is a mix, but another refresher is around. These are more of the middle ground between DMG, Buffs, and overall support.

However, I was able to outfresh and outcast every SMN and BRD I've met so far (Except Syrrus, The best WHM and SMN known on our server...)

Depends. If SMN plans to use Buffs (stoneskin) a lot, Spirit Taker and Full Swing (subbing WAR) would most definately win. Of course at higher levels, they would use Hexa than switch to staff for Spirit.

i avoid the ones where you can bring your own items, it puts me out of a job XD

so unless they're lucky and can /quarry one...

besides, i spend BP on the Max HP + Items <3 so i get atleast 1.8k HP!

I think rdm would win. Stoneskin, Blink, phax, Convert, refeer, and the best at meleeing of the three and Def.

Brd's can do some cool things with songs but alot of them are slow...They dont have to much hp or vit. If the brd does buff him-self rdm can dispell, but brd can dispell rdm too so.....

Smn's have high mp but really bad hp. They avatars cant do anything if they die fast. A rdm with a good sword and high skill can drop the smn's hp before the avatars can do much.

I guess you would need to think about the sub-jobs too.

Well i dont know much about Sam, but my level 74 Sam/rng Hyo could.
He used to have a katana then he hit 73 and had a spear.
I think Sams should use Katana, but they could go with spear after the really cool WS come in
