There's no set rule's on loving your family. But it has been my code (Even before Satanism) that you should give respect to those who deserve it. Same goes for love. But that's just my code. Same goes for love to. I love my family, but i love my friend's the same. If i had to choose between the two it would make a really hard decision. Remember im not telling you to do what i do just putting what i do out there.

I hate everyone in my family except for my sister, my cousin, and my dad.
This is because, yeah, I had a bad history with child abuse etc, etc....
I think that love is a connection that your mind cannot create, therefore if you truly love someone you will know for certain and if you truly hate someone you will know for certain.
ie//when ever i'm around my family i feel like vomiting profusely
when ever i'm around my girlfriend i feel like i never want to be anywhere else razz

i used to hate my sister as well for the same reason as you but later on once she matured and started to see the world the same way i did i found it easier to get along with her and now she is one of my better friends.

I dont think that just because someone is blood doesnt mean they deserve your love, my family has outcasted me, and my parents badly abused and abandoned me, my trued family are my friends and first and foremost is my brother ive known him for the past 6 years and hes always been their for me. I ended up having a small brotherhood that also had two girls but their are both gone now and im sorry i put so much time and faith into them and my brotherhood is growing small all the time as some reveal i was too quick to trust and was glad i didnt give them too much of myself, but my true brother and best friend i know will always be there by my side and i by him and i love him for it. It is for him and for my girl that i give all my love too.

I don't love my sister. She has no respect for me or my belongings and treats me like I'm not a person. She is also constantly ratting on me which has gotten me in trouble MANY times. I love my friends much, much more than I care for my sister.

Aren't you suppose to love people who deserve your love? I feel she doesn't deserve mine. I can understand your parents because they brought you into this world, but if they abuse you, should you still love them?

Could you please tell me if there are any rules about loving your family and such?

Thank You.

Oh, I know exactly how you feel. You should love those who deserve your love, not wasted on the ones who don't. My parents brought me into this world but I've always despited them because they never treated me with respect and so in return I treated them the same. I think that the people you love and show respect to should be the ones who give you love and respect, such as your friends. My friends mean more than any of my family members ever will.

I have to ask another question related to this one. But I'm going to have to explain it from the beginning...

About two years ago in the middle of summer, my mom and dad had decided to get a divorce (at least, my mom did). Once they got divorced, I was forced to live with my mom and her boyfriend, who is now my step-dad, instead of my dad, who I got to see every other weekend. On that same year, on New Year's, my dad passed away. He had been taking depression pills with alchohol, and his heart had cut out on him. By next year in the summer, my mom and her boyfriend had a baby. They weren't even married yet, and they decided to have a child. A few months after that, after the baby was born, they finally married.

This year, over the summer, I was at my big sister's apartment (my half-sister), and I had asked her why our mom had divorced my dad, and she said she had been cheating on him. I haven't decided to ask her about this, but ever since then, I have hated my mom and my step-dad.

Is it perfectly fine for me to hate them, since they are basically the cause of my dad's death? If not, I don't plan on changing my ways, it just seems to heart-breaking and cold to forgive them for.
