Charlotte walked into the silver diner, starving. She had just gotten into the City from Calcutta and needed a reviving meal. Those curries that she had lived on for the past month were good, but she wanted meatloaf. Good old-fashioned meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green peas--that is what she wanted and a Diet Coke.
She looked around the diner and only saw one individual asleep in a booth. Stepping around the man's feet, she went and sat in a red vinyled booth farthest from the door. Sitting down, she had a view of the room and the entrance. She could her singing coming from the kitchen.
"Hello," she called. "Anyone around?"

Mercy, stopped her singing and listened. She thought that she heard someone come in the diner. Hearing a "hello" she put down her peanut butter & banana sandwich and went into the dining area.
"Well, hi!" she said to the already seated young woman in the red booth. "What can I get you? Do you need a menu?" Mercy held out a menu toward the woman.

Charlotte reached out for the menu from the other woman. "Hi," she said "What I really want is meatloaf, do you have any?" She was careful not to actually touch the waitresses hand as she took the menu. She did a quick assessment of the woman and was sure she knew her from somewhere. "Have we met before?" she asked. "You look awful familiar, have you ever been to Bombay?"

Mercy drew back and took another look at the dark haired gypsy looking woman. She did look vaguely familiar. She looked like someone she used to know, but he was a man...not a young woman. "Yes, I was in Calcutta about six years ago." She was still uncertain, how she might know the woman. She would have been a child, when she was in Calcutta. Walking closer she peered into the very dark brown eyes.
The woman looked in her early twenties. That meant, she would have been in her early teens when Mercy was in India. She had only known one Gypsy looking person in India--Charles Stafford!
"Oh, my God! Are you Charles daughter, Lottie?"

From deep under the Earth, Tegasta could faintly smell the bittersweet aroma of his "cattle". Far above him stood a cafe, rustling with humans, experiencing a hunger of their own. He began to dig his way out.
"Father send your minions for me! I long to taste blood again. Come for me, Dark One!"

"Roll, come here" Kacey said. A white wolf appeared from the tree and came to his leg. "Do you hear it Roll? Do you hear the screams? Somethings going on west of here, and we had better go check it out."
Kacey and Roll ran towards the city area, only to see the cafe
"what in agile's name are those?"
As he looked, he saw fleshy skeletons arising from dead humans
Out of the corner of his eye he spotted a shady character
"Who are you, and what have you done?"
He braced his bow tightly

Charlotte laughed, " Yes, you dated my dad" she chuckled. "You didn't stick around long; and you haven't changed much." She looked down at the menu and asked, "You didn't say, but do you still have meatloaf." She laughed again, "I have been having a meatloaf craving!" She didn't want to talk about what happened to her dad. So she changed the subject back to food. "I'd like a Diet Coke, too!" I have been out of this country and have really missed my two favorite comfort foods.
Charlotte paused and went very still...her eyes deepening in color.

Emerald looks up from her book that she was reading in the corner of the diner very quietly as she hears a very annoying sound. Off in the distance she hears screams of young women and children, Emerald gets up from her chair fastly and shuts her book. "Everyone might want to get out of harms way before whatever it is that is hurting the women and children gets to the cafe!!" Emerald walks out of the cafe to meet her brother at the door, "kacey, what sre you doing here? whats going on?"

"Quick, over here"
Kacey unleashed a few shots from his bow then quickly grabbed his sister's hand
"Man you sure do know how to show up at the right time" he laughed a bit
"What are these things?" Emerald questioned
"Honestly, I have no idea, but they need to be stopped that's for sure"
Kacey began to charge but was pulled back
"Wait bro, don't be hasty.....remember, a cool head always wins the fight. Follow me."
They both went around the back of the cafe, which looked untouched. They both peeped around the corner to see the mysterious man still just standing there, and the fleshy skeltons just walking about.
Emerald dashed like lightening and took out two. The others came and tried to subdue her, but she was too fast.
Emerald took out another two, but turned around as one began to pounce.
"Ahhhh!"
An arrow flew from high above, and hit the skeleton of flesh right in the chest. It went down
Emerald looked up and saw her brother on top of the cafe building, bow and arrow in hand. He gave a thumbs, she gave one in return.
Emerald took out her sais, and with her brother they wiped out the rest of the flesh skeletons.
Kacey jumped down and cautiously approached the mysterious guy. Emerald followed
"Now, i'll say it once again. Who are you?" Kacey said

Charlotte was entranced by the frightening vision in her mind. She never heard the warning cries. She was deaf to all save the vision of death and destuction playing out in her mind.

Mercy, looked up from the coffeemaker. Her eyes dilated and fixed by the psychic whine and groans of her mind. What was that noise? It seemed to pierce her awareness of the cosmic plane. Something evil was near...very near...

Tegasta searched the area of broken ground where he had arisen. It was damp with fresh rain and smelled of dank summerness. Huge stones blocked his vision of the road. He began to walk toward the town.
