If I think of the name of my violin, than I think his name is Bouwman, becaus Bouwman made him.

My viola's name is Victoria van Leeuwenhoek Victria because I thought her name had to start with a v and I thought the name victoria was pretty and van Leeuwenhoek after Antony van Leeuwenhoek the scientist because his last name is fun to say. My other viola that I rented was named Modest van Leewenhoek Modest after Modest Mussorgsky.

Just recently named mine Evelyn... Because its celtic/gaelic for lively/pleasant... And I think that Evelyn was the most pleasant sounding violin in the shop I got 'er from! mrgreen

My violin is one that my school lends me (I'll have my own soon).
Last year, I had a 3/4 violin wich was really cute and sounded good. I named him Junior because he was little. This year, thy gave me a new one because the old one had become too little for my arm. He has an ugly F.C. insciption on it and I was really sad when I first saw it. But I decided to turn this ugliness into something happy so I named him Florentin Claude to match his "tatoo".
My bow too has a name. I used to have an old ugly bow wich was called Archetbald (Archet means bow in french and it sounds like Archibald, a french name). But then I got a new one wich I named Faustine Crystal to match my violin.
My keyboard's name is Maximilien and there's just no story behind that.

I have several names for my violins.
My first one (closest to my heart) is a mystery because I want to know who made it and stuff. A piece of paper was found fluttering around inside. When retrieved it said "Malino. Made in France. 1/12/92." I've done all kind of research, but I can't find any information about "Malino." Well anyways, I call that violin Malino usually, because it's kind of like the name was given to me as it was for an adopted child.
I have just recently bought a VERY old Maggini violin, made in Germany around the turn of the last century. I have no clue what to call it right now.
The violin that I am constructing which is nearly complete, I am calling Liebesleid, because most of the work I did while I was upset or crying. Lutherie is my comfort hobby. (Liebesleid means love's sorrow, it's a song by Kreisler, I think). Love's Sorrow, but I would think that in this instance, the meaning should be interpreted more as a product of love from sorrow, rather than a product of sorrow from love.
