I have been playing with my fingers and a pick(I don't know if I am doing it right) and I have been wondering which would make a crisper sound?

Fingerpicking sounds much more mellow than a pick. The pick makes the notes sound a lot sharper. Just try it and listen for yourself. Listening to yourself is good, anyway. It answers all questions you could ever have.
